Ski Season & Girlfriend

Right, so i've applied to do the 2012/13 season abroad (probably France) and i've got a few interviews, my girlfriend isn't too keen on the idea, we've been together for 18 months at the moment so it would be 21 months by the time i go away.

The thing is, she doesn't want to break up, but i don't know if i can stay faithful out there for a whole 5 months, especially if the girls doing season are anything girls i've met out there before...

Has anyone done a season and stayed with their girl? or is it just pointless trying to stay together?

Yep. You obviously don't love her if this is an issue for you, so don't be a dick. If you actually thought there was a future in the relationship, 5 months wouldn't be too long to keep it in your pants.

that whole 'do everything' approach will likely cause her to lose interest in you over time.

if you want to have this chick around for a while after you come home, make sure you leave with the upper hand. In this case, you'd probably gain it by breaking up with her. With a long distance romance you'll just wind up with endless phone calls and one of you will develop some kind of jealousy problem, thus sabotaging the whole relationship anyway.

this. If you really care about her and want to be with her in the future, dont break up with and dont cheat, its not like avoiding cheating is an impossibility.

Internet these days in incredibly cheap. I'm currently on the other side of the planet and I'm able to FaceTime my girlfriend for free.

My US clients don't even know I'm in Switzerland. I set up google voice so that if they call my old phone number it forwards to my skype or they call my google number and it forwards to my skype. Then I can make my phonecalls with google voice and I'm not charged for anything. And I can still use my phone since I have skype on that... so it's just like a normal phone conversation.

Then I got a sim card for here at the lovely price of $20 and I only pay for out going calls and texts so I just text my friends and tell them to call me. So easy.

There is no excuse to complain about phone bills these days. Unlimited texts and minutes are an unneeded feature. Google voice is the shit.
