Ski Season & Girlfriend

Right, so i've applied to do the 2012/13 season abroad (probably France) and i've got a few interviews, my girlfriend isn't too keen on the idea, we've been together for 18 months at the moment so it would be 21 months by the time i go away.

The thing is, she doesn't want to break up, but i don't know if i can stay faithful out there for a whole 5 months, especially if the girls doing season are anything girls i've met out there before...

Has anyone done a season and stayed with their girl? or is it just pointless trying to stay together?

But seriously, a motto to go by in a relationship is if the 2 people want to make it work (given you're not in one of polygamous relationships) it will. Try to talk often, if you do decide to stick through it, and be aware it's going to be tough at times.

She did say we could break up for the 5 months then get back together when I'm home but all her friends talked her out of that idea, which sucks. Cliche: I know she'd never cheat cos she's so against it, but I'd be getting drunk at the weekends with hot ski bitches everywhere don't think I could not cheat. Catch 22 or what!?

You are incredibly stupid if you have no self control from getting drunk and would consider getting with French girls because the opportunity is there. It's seriously not that hard to keep in touch with people these days. If she trusts you, you before stand behind that trust. Don't be a dickbag man. Use common sense.

Oh, I'm definitely going if I get the job! It's just whether to stay with her or not, I don't wanna have to hold back on drink or women while I'm out there. I think if I stayed with her I'd be thinking of her rather than living the experience up to the fullest...

if you took the job for parties and women, i don't think your relationship is ok to begin with ...

if you took the job for the ski/mountain experience, try to stick through it, if she's 'the one', maybe one day the two of you can move out to the mountains ?

Yup, just break up with her man, long term relationships are massively overrated. I tried to do it once and it drove me a bit crazy. I have been doing back to back seasons for 6 years, I know very few people who successfully stay with a gf/bf through a season apart, and those that do, often cheat anyway...

No, a catch 22 is a situation that is a no-win.  A "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation.  This would be a case in which a guy simply does not deserve his girlfriend.  Break up with her if you don't care enough to stay faithful so at least she has the chance to find someone worthwhile.  I mean think about it.  It's five months.  You might hook up with a few girls.  So what?  You going to trade a good trustworthy hottie at home- maybe for life- just to swap a few random fuck faces while you're on vacation?   

You have a girl who by all accounts is awesome, would never cheat on you, and who is more than willing to weather the storm to be with you.  That is worth it's weight in gold honestly.  Hot sluts come and go but when you find a girl like that you better do everything you can to keep her and do right by her. 

If you want to hook up, make sure you're ok with trading that for her getting plowed by someone else too.  If you're willing to trade it all to be free to do as you wish, then break up before you go and leave it on good terms.  Maybe it'll still be an option when you come back but it's the right thing to do if you're planning on fucking out there.  Just my .02

Well said. I agree with this.

If you decide to cheat at least have the decency to break up with her before you go on the trip. Cheating will fuck her up in future relationships and if you have been dating someone for two years you should at least care enough to end it right.

This will sound cheesy. But for realz, it should be easy to decide. Either you LOVE her enough to want the experience but not care about other ladies or you dont. If you dont, do you think you could potentially LOVE her enough to consider her "the one." Otherwise you're just stringing her along. If you do LOVE her that much, you should ask her to come even if you know she will say no. It's just the considerate thing to do. Alcohol shouldn't factor. Cause if you really love your person, you should be all... ahhhh i miss soo and soo and be telling every bitch in france how much better your lady is.

Note: I'm in Switzerland for the summer away from my fellow and no one i've met here even begins to compare to his awesomeness. I'm happy I'm doing this for myself, but at the same time, I'm figuring out how much I really like being with him and it makes the away time way easier.

I think it's better in the end if you cant do the long distance thing for a season that you break up. She will get over you way faster with you out of country. That being said, you might break up with her and then be all.. "I was so stupid, I love you, girls here are stupid" and then make it through the rest of the season and get back to her and have everything be even more awesome cause you got to realize what life without her is.

Ughhhh I'm a romantic. Sorry.

Dragging it out to make it try and seem better is a lousy idea. You'll just end up putting it off over and over again. And when the time comes, I doubt you'll actually break up with her.
