this for sure. i have brakes that are way too big on my 80 mm wide skis. they bend very easily and i have had to bend them back multiple times. i also snapped the whole brake off landing hard switch off a jump. so definitely get brakes that are around 90mm or 85 if the binding comes in an 85
Brakes are based off of waist width, so a 90mm brake can fit on up to a 90mm waisted ski (at it's skinniest). 90mm isn't really the exact width of the brake, it's really something closer to 93-95mm depending on the company (and bend for that matter...we're talking about bending metal and a matter or millimeters...there's gonna be some minor differences). Plus, most brakes can be tweaked out slightly to fit. However, I like to go slightly bigger rather than just right cause any bend in and all of a sudden your brakes don't work properly cause they get stuck on your sidewall.
80-90. I have a pair of 80's on my 90 underfoot skis and they work fine, and I've also used 100mm ( I believe) on 75 underfoot skis, which you don't want to do. Bigger leads to broken brakes, and one time I was jumping through some narrow trees and my skis got stuck together because the brakes hooked. Definitely don't go bigger than 90
anywhere within 10mm wider than the waist of your ski is ok. narrower will not work well so always make sure the width of the brake is at least as wide as the ski. for a punisher a 90mm brake will work great as the ski is 86mm wide underfoot
