some denim is created specifically to fade quickly and well. see: N&F (not including their weird shit, like the 18 and 21oz jeans..), Nudie, Newer APC lines, et al.. basically the brands you see talked about on the hypebeast forums or here are cheaper, designed to fade quickly so you see results, but because of this they also are accompanied by blowouts, etc. Higher end brands, and heavier denim in general, takes longer to wear, and are more durable. Brands that you see tossed around on StyleForum or SuFu tend to be of a better build quality and last longer, but also take longer to fade, which some see as a positive, while others view it as a negative.
It also depends on how you wear it. If you wear jeans to the office very day and then out drinking, they are going to show wear in the knees and seat, because of all the sitting, and not much else, but a pair thats used during sporting (skating, whatever), or day laboring, is going to show wear everywhere, and be especially susceptible to things like crotch blowouts or blown knees, thighs, ripped hems, and so forth.
The momotaro denim we are using is definitely in the latter category of denim, something that will last through years of wear, but won't show fading a few weeks after purchase like Nudies do.
