Ok so I have a 2005 FXT and I'm looking to mod it. I'm looking at anything such as upgrading the exhaust sound, wheels, sound system, etc. Just let me know what you recommend. If you have any pictures of any of the mods on your car, post them!

I would recommend upgrading the exhaust, wheels and sound system. But really moding your vehicle is about making it your own, not what people on the internet want.

its a forester its not going to handle any better than like fuck. dont drop it. if anything lift it. get same size or smaller and tougher wheels. if i had a forester and for some reason wanted to put money into it rather than selling it and buying a car that performs well for cheaper. id keep it stock ride height or higher. and focus on a good combination of coilvers, tires and wheels to make it more offroad/rally capable.

slammed racey or thugged out foresters are some of the worst looking cars ever IMO.

Rally armors are great, only if you get the more expensive ones. They are a nice rubber, while the cheap ones are shitty plastic that will become curved on the sides and look horrible after a little while. Even $12 Ikea mudflats hold up better than the cheap RA's

Ok. I think I'm going to go with a black flap with white logo. It'll be the UR flaps which are like 140 bucks.

Good choice. Very worth the price. Other mods I would look into if I were you would be cold air of any brand, and for the best exhaust note, I would go invidia exhaust/downpipe

If your buying wheels, please buy coils or springs at least before the wheels. Nothing looks worse than a stock height FXT or WRX on any aftermarket wheel. Just go to nasioc, you'll find what you need there.

Beat me to it.

Regardless if your going to upgrade your exhaust just for the sound, only get a catback. When you get a turbo back you'll need to get a tune. It will add a good chunk of HP, but tunes are usually 200-350 depending on where you go. Id suggest getting a COBB access port though because you can upload any map you want at any time. I have one and running a stage 2 map on my WRX and it rocks.

I had a k&n drop in and a tube running from a hole under the stock airbox to right under the front bumper and it worked extremely well, probably much better than those "cold air" performance intakes.

Cobb will get colder air, and they seem to do more than short ram. I've had both on my subbie, and even with a heat shield ram doesn't work quite as well. No probably not, but it would make it perform better

Wrong. My Forester handles just as good as my WRX does. And it was very easy to make it that way due to the platform.
That said OP, do your research and build smart. Choose what looks good to you. AccesPort, TBE, and Brakes/Suspension would be a good start and not break the bank.
As for flaps, check out Flapatax (google it). They are much more cost efficient than RA's. I had them on my WRX for over a year and couldn't have been happier.

Otherwise.. have fun with it. Do worry about the Subaru haters...

like everyone else said nasioc is the place to go but just make sure you buy your exhaust from a name brand and not ebay. hella supertones are cheap and i like how they look if youre willing to spend 40 bucks on some horns

Well first you have to lower enough so that when you drive sparks fly out. Second, you have to paint it pink. Third, you need to get 30" rims. Fourth, you need the biggest subs you can get. Fifth, you need copious amounts of stupid shit hanging from the RVM. And lastly, you have to do drive by shootings. You car will then be officially pimped out.

By "handles well", I mean I'm an experienced mechanic and have pretty decent experience with suspension set ups. I.E, not just springs or C/O's are just slapped on either of my them. My WRX by no means "pushes", at all. An AWD car will push if certain steps arent tended to.

But, I'm sure you've driven every Subaru with every setup on it. Thats why you're able to speak so confidently towards how these vehicles feel and perform. Fair enough.

ive only driven a stock forester xt. but i have driven tons of wrx's and sti's, with tons of different suspension setups, ive spent plenty of time on track trying to get my friends 7 grand worth of suspension components dialed in on his STI, now i dont have much time working with AWD cars, but the entire time we struggled with getting rid of its understeer problem, in the end we couldnt get rid of it without fucking up some other aspect of its setup and had to settle. we talked with a friend with over 100k into his time attack STI, and it was the same story, they could get it to rotate on entry but if you tried to get to early power it would go straight to understeer. if you were extremely patient and did a slow roll to power then it would take it, but thats not ideal.

anyway im talking about stock/mostly stock cars anyway. you can get any car to handle pretty damn well, but the fact is that they handle pretty shitty stock as soon as you start to push them.

In Utah, where there is snow, I have seen multiple of th cheap ones bent out of shape that look horrible. Him being a skier, I would guess that he will be driving in snow/dirt, which messes um up

Like other people have said, work on performance first just to make sure your subi is in tip top shape. My 96 outback is running great, I just got a new stereo a month ago, bought some new speakers today and just got new tires installed.

Colorado, where there is also snow, is where I have my $20 RA's. I, being a skier, drive through lots of snow and dirt very regularly, which hasn't messed up my RA's at all in almost 2 years now.
