Eastman Kodak officially files Bankruptcy

I know this is all over the Wall St. Journal etc...but thought it might get blanketed by Sopa headlines.

What do you think this will mean for the future of film production & availability? --Since Kodak produces a good portion of the dwindling film industry.

its really sad, i live in rochester and it seems like every other friend has a parent that could be losing their job in the near future. My dad worked there, so did my uncle and aunt. crazy. ik this isnt relevant to what u were looking for, sorry

sad for sure, my dad's cousin was the head of canadian operations for kodak for over 20 years. I actually made a short documentary about the Digitalization of Photography and how is was effecting companies like Kodak last year.

this soo much. every other adult i know is affiliated in some way with kodak. it is going to be awful. i know they all ready laid off a bunch of people, but this will be even more

Just what I've read on other forums. Their film stuff is actually still profitable, they just overexpanded in the digital stuff, and it hurt them in the long run. It sounds like they are gonna downsize, but film should be for the most part safe.

also what does this mean for leica? their sensors(at least in the m9) are made by kodak
