Job at a ski shop?

When I turn 16 this winter, I'm gona apply to work at this ski shop a couple of minutes from me. They have a small selection of twin tips and some other newschool stuff. What do you think I need to know to work there?

prolly not too much, depends on what you wanna do. a cashier you prolly dont have to know anything (and u still prolly get the store discount) but if you wanted to be a sales person youd prolly have to know skis and bindings boots, and yea as said before, snowboards, but most places have good training and prolly have an inventory book for you to study before you start so you know a little about each.

I lied about knowing all kinds of shit and made them train me the first day. my boss was kinda pissed but he didnt have much of a choice because we were already short handed

i work at a shop and didnt really know much when i started a few years ago, you just learn as you go along, there is a lot to remember though...also, a lot of people want to work in ski shops, so its hard to get your foot in the door. but good luck

they will teach u everything there way. u will most likely be a rental monkey or some shit for the first couple years. oh ya have fun working when the mountains get the huge storms and everyone comes back and tells u how awesome it is and u get to smile back. that is the shitty part

ok but theres not any mountains near this skishop... it's in Boston and so not many people ski or ride.

everyone starts somewhere, so dont think that you need a shitload of experiance to get a job in a ski shop. Go in telling the truth, tell them your an enthuseastic kid who loves the ski industry, and that all you every do is think skiing. Whether you know the product or not, they will still hire you if you are a good kid. Thats how I started in the ski industry, wax and garbage bitch, from there I got a feeling for tuning skis, and then learned to sell skis. When I first started at the shop, I used to hide from custys, then i learned how to talk to people and make a sale.

I worked in a shop for 5 or so years, its a shit load of fun. You get hooked up, and you can talk something you love all day long. I would still be working in a ski shop today, if I had not moved on to something bigger and better.

yea theyre selling the cronics for $269 (at least for 157cm) and have the new motherships, most of the old Lines, TM's, some 1080s, fujitives and the new enemys.

Yeah you really don't have to know much. They will get you certified with whatever bindings they sell. Knowing generally how to tune skis is a good idea but every shop has their own way of doing it so they'll teach you that too.

during the winter i work at the local ski shop where i live. its the greaterst job ever. i take in my skis and work on them. i get paid to wax my skis bitches. that just rocks!!

yah, i definately love my ski shop job. i dont think you need to know TOO much, but i think what they're looking for a lot of times is whether you'd be a good seller, and if you're excited to work there and eager..and yea....but once you get there, a lot of the knowledge on skis, boots, and bindings come quick..especially if you talk to the people who've been working there for longer than you have....definately go for it! yay proforms

working at a ski shop is sick, and i started working at one last year, and i knew some shit but i learned most of the stuff i know, basic knowledge will help but you will learn most of it
