Replying to Adobe illustrator basics

Hey guys. My friend looked at some of my design work and has asked me to start designing logos and graphics for his clothing company, United Threads. I've always drawn things with paper and colored pencils because it was never really anything serious, but now I want to get more legit about it. My school's art department has a bunch of Macbooks with Illustrator on them, and I was wondering where I could find a simple guide to the basics of the program? +K for legit answers!
