Best snow=lightest snow is what anyone in Utah is going to preach. Pure marketing. But a hell of a lot of coastal skiers like myself would WAY rather have snow with some density and substance. So yeah, it's subjective. Would Alaska be close to as incredible as it is if it received 3% snow? No way.
Light powder is the best snow on earth if you like low angle pow skiing. If you want steeps, you want wetter, denser snow. That's why 99% of real big mountain ski footage comes out of coastal zones.
