So for the upcoming season at dagmar, the owners are looking at giving the park a bit of a facelift, they are looking for some suggestions for the park. so the main thing is what would you like to see happen with the park at dagmar this year? For example how the park is set up, and new features you would like to see this season? just post suggestions here and all suggestions will be taken in to consideration.

I have no idea where I'm going to ride because of this. Burke did AMAZING things to Dagmar and made they're park the go to place east of the 400. Now that he's gone, I have no idea what to expect. I always hated lakeridge because they never had FLOW to their park (Derek Suckling made a good attempt, but didn't stick around long enough to make an impact). This year will be interesting though. My suggestion to Dagmar is don't mess with what has been so successful the past few years. Sure add some new features, but don't try to reinvent the wheel.

Ski at Lakeridge obviously. I love Lakeridge, and swear by them, and you're point of no flow is exactly the opposite of how I feel. Lakeridge had MORE flow than Dagmar in my opinion. But, the jumps did need work, but other than that, it was a fun park. Abundance of features, and I never got bored of it.

MAJOR+++++ is the downhill wind rather than Dagmar's up, so the jumps are ALWAYS hittable, no matter what.

Bottom line, Lakeridge is coming back to the highside it had a couple years ago, and stay on top for a couple of years. Go to Lakeridge.

Shotgun rain all year.
No butter box(nice for one day then gets icy and shitty)
No spine(same thing..It just gets really icy and imo is a waste of snow
Get a little more of urban/ride on rails mixture. It seemed almost every rail was urban this year. Other then the fdf and high flat bar
Toss the wall down near the bottom maybe beside the S? Where it was this year it got no use

Ill see you there im going there for sure.

Yes dagmar had an excellent park last year and the park will still be maintained  to the same level it was last year. and yeah lakeridge did have more flow than dagmar last year, no doubt about it. regardless both hills have great stuff to offer

Yeah the park isnt going to have any drastic changes, it will stay the same with some new features and new layout etc. it isnt going to get completely redone.

Yeah exactly, i agree completely on the spine and snow/butter box, it wasnt the best use of space. but yeah there will be a wide variety of features this year.

Park was great last year. Just keep it similar but definitely no butter box or spine.. Lookin forward to it!

hey p00nslayer take it easy, im not sure how you come to the conclusion that the park will suck this year simply because our park director from years past has left...

burke did a great job with the park at dag, and no doubt lakeridge will have a solid park with him there this year

but as C.Wood mentioned, dag's park is getting a facelift as the owners are seriously interested in improving it, the park will be as sick as ever, wait and see.....

Yeah for sure, those were great features for a while before they got all iced out. it would be nice to have them again but unfortunately dag just doesn't have  the room for those types of features.

ah the infamous annual dagmar vs lakeridge debate.
hop in your cars, drive to moonstone, problem solved.

90% of the features are either too challenging or too sketch for 90% of the people that ride there.

All I can say C-Wood is good luck! If you're running the show, thats great! Love to see skiers in leading roles in terrain parks. If you have any questions about anything park related, i would be happy to give you my 2 cents....

I don't think it really matters much, I mean theyre both like 250 vert, both have good parks for theyre size and there really isn't much of a difference between the two... For me its just I've been skiing at dagmar for quite a while and just see no reason to switch.

Bottom line some people dagmar some like lakeridge but there really isn't a big difference. IMO

Totally agree.

I love pushing people to come ski at Lakeridge, but it all comes down to personal opinion and loyalty I guess.

Never did i say that lakeridge didn't have an abundance of rails. I get you are defending your hill. But I'm trying to bring business to the hill i work for. So just read exactly what i post before you reply.

Just wanted to note these hills definitely don't have a vert of 250. More like 50 meters. At 250 that would put them at a quarter of the size of tremblant/ St anne

So i had a meeting at dagmar not to long ago. There should be lots of new stuff this year

Some stuff that was talked about:
-Two more runs turned into parks
-park pass
- many new features are being built (very unique features)

haha im sold.. if this is true that is all the good shit! the flat down will be so sick and the steep landings will be so much better! and the 2 more runs for park.. i really hope this is true

All of it is about 80% true. I sent that message out to a few friends and it got here. But i am involved with the park this year and have had a meeting at dagmar about the park.

All i can say is get stoked on dagmar's park this year. It is going to be an unreal park

I will keep you guys updated as i learn more about what is actually going to happen.

2 new park runs? haha. Like the addition of the impound jumpine was a new "run" last year? Anything on hawkshurst or wild turkey is to flat to make anything park related. I suppose you could make little momma a rail garden but that lift ran about 4 days last season, and is tailored to the main source of income -> noobs/rentals so economically it's infeasible to change that. And to split parks up at a resort so small doesn't make any sense to me.

No hate. Just curious. im guessing this is the 20% of the hype you are talking about that isn't true?

To be honest I think Hawk's hurst and Wild Turkey would both be great for some fun little jibs/beginner stuff

Yeah it will be Hawks Hurst and Wild Turkey that will be additional parks, and the purpose of them will be for really beginner level features, like very low flat boxes and very low rails. Something for kids to get used to before they go to something bigger. the main goal was to have lots of progression possible for riders.To make features that go from very easy adn gradually get harder until it reaches the more expert features in big daddy.

And all the 'hype' that has been talked about is true. I personally had a meeting with Bill and Jason about the park this year. All ideas that have been mentioned were talked about with them and they liked all ideas and are doing their best to make it all happen. So yes you are correct with saying that not all will happen, I never garanteed that. It was just ideas that were talked about and were possibilities. But i would say about 90-95% of it will happen

Thanks man, and for sure check it out.

and yeah completely agree its a pain to skate from those runs but it also was a pain as an instructor to take kids on those runs, so the hope is that i will eliminate the number of lessons going there and the number of lessons that will be in the Bid Daddy lift line. So the chairlift is going to be a park only chair pretty much and hopefully it will not be stopping every couple minutes when there is families or large groups of lessons trying to get kids on and having troubles.

why hasnt dagmar done this yet?
not that i really care anymore, but when i used to go there almost everyday i was pretty much guaranteed to land on a kid or crash into a asian having miso soup on a landing.

dosnt it just make sense? have a park pass, then the only people in the park are..... wait for it............ park riders!

and honestly, like i said, i dont ski dagmar too much anymore. but the biggest thing i found is their features were either way too easy, or wayyyyyyy to hard. i can understand them wanting to claim ya we have this big of a rainbow, and that big of a jump, and this high of a rail, but come on. the park staff and park managers there need to sit down and seriously consider who dagmar caters to. challenging is fine, but 9 out of 10 features there are way over the head of 9 out of 10 people that ride there. There is nothing right in the middle, nothing to help people progress. I never ever ever even began to understand in the slightest what went and still goes through the heads of some employees of dagmar.

Well like I said, a park pass is going into effect this year, it was brought up at a meeting and management really liked the idea. It will keep everyone on the hill safer and prevent park riders from getting angry when there is younger children on the landing, preventing them from hitting a feature.

And if you read what i said early, that is what is going to be happening at Dagmar this year, it will be more of a easier transition from the smaller features all the way up to the larger features. SO there will be a lot of medium level features. Which allows progression to happen for riders and now 9 out of 10 features WILL be hittable by 9 out of 10 riders. And yes there will be a meeting about how the park is going to be setup this year, with input from everyone including skiers and snowboarders.

Just an idea, but..

Most people spin left, I think we can agree on this, and most of the frequently hit jumps were on the left side of the landings. If I wanted to carve off a jump to do a nice carved cork 7 for example, I wouldn't be able to off most of the jumps because I would end up missing the landing. Maybe move the more frequemtly hit jumps to the right side? Just an idea. Not sure how practicle of how well it would work.

no offense dude, but ive been on this site 11 years. and every year, in this same spot in the regional forums, this exact same thread gets made. people talk, and people get hyped, and nothing happens.

no but seriously you could do that as it is (if you actually man up and try) its not like your gonna travel 100m to the left. if your gonna try that you should take off of the right side of the lip and you shouldnt travel more than a few feet to the left

No that's completely understandable, but this year there will be change, management wanted to improve the park so they went to the riders for input and are listening and making things happen.

I disagree with all of your posts. This thread for the dirty dag has grown significantly in the past 5 seasons. The reason why it grew was because the park grew, and it grew for the better. Many things that have been talked about on this thread have been put into the park. Both the Compound and Impound changed and progressed over time. To say that there was no variety of features is an ignorant comment. When you look at the Impound from top-to-bottom, you will see a huge variety, from 6 ft rails only about 8-10inches off the ground, to wide longer rails roughly 8-10inches off the ground. There was also a mix of boxes in the impound ranging in size that were great for beginners. These slide-able features were all ride-on as well. When you look at the jump-line, you would see multiple take-offs with jumps ranging from a 8-12ft gap to maybe 20 foot gap at the most. Perfect for beginner to intermediate park-rat. I think their was around 30+ features last season. With that many features its hard to take your comment seriously about the gap between easy and hard.

Moving into the compound, you had more technical and bigger features and still a lot of variety. From a flat box to flat rails, to urban take-offs, and of course kink rails. I am not sure how many times you rode there last year, but things were good for a challenge and to good to learn. People like CWood and Coxworth would be spinning onto these slideable features, I am sure they did some summer training but, I know Dagmar helped him progress and many others as well.

You will also notice that nobody else has the same view as you on this forum. 

The other comment regarding MSLM, everyone knows MSLM is arguably the best in Ontario. But, that isn't what this thread is about. If you ride at Louis and have no problem hitting those features, why do you care about features at Dagmar?

Did you really almost crash into someone every time you were there? I guarantee I was there more than you and I would have noticed you crashing or almost crashing into anyone. Were those people that you always were crashing into, really asian? If you can ride park you should be able to avoid people...

Good luck to CWood. Just a word of advice, make sure you listen to the right people when talking about features. Everyone is an expert and even though you have a done a great job with the park and done things that have never been done before....you are still going to get people that don't like something and make stupid comments about it. Good luck man! I will have to come out and poach a run or two.
