If you scroll over "Pictures" the "Crash" selection is placed in the add space.

so i don't know if this is the place to post this, but i was planning on making a bst thread last night, and when i clicked the little add photo button, it doesn't work. a pop up comes up, but its just a blue screen that says add media on the top. still won't work today also

how can i watch my own pictures ?

Yeah sorry, this is being worked on. With all the upgrades we broke the old photo adding system. The new one will be much better and easier to use (you'll be able to add photos directly to a post) but we have to finish it.

Until then, you just have to use the img tags.

Your own photos are now listed in your own photo gallery.

No I totally get it.

Honestly we should have waited another 6 months before launching this. It needed polishing and lots of contextual help and documentation added.

However, it was a year late already so we said screw it.

Everyone is going to be able to start making photo galleries too.

We had Schmuck make one out of photos from an event he was just at.

That is truly sick. Will we be able to organize our photos that we have already loaded into new galleries? That would be amazing, and so much better than just having pages of random pics.

Yep that's exactly the idea. You can create specific photo galleries, and you can make as many as you want. They will then display in that style like in the link I showed you.

You'll be able to re-order items, add them, delete them, whatever you want. Its super easy to do once you understand how it works.

There will also start to be a sense of top rated Galleries, so you can view galleries of photos that as a whole get a good rating. It is super fucking cool stuff.

This is the huge reason that this took so long and seems so confusing... the amount of features we added is insane. Its going to take a while to get it all polished and teach everyone though. :)

You can try making a gallery if you want.

1) Open MyMedia

2) Click "View All Pictures"

3) Upload all the photos you want by clicking the little camera with an upwards arrow in the top left

4) Under "Picture Galleries" Create a picture gallery that you want to show.

5) When you have uploaded and tagged all of your pictures, they will display in your MyMedia. If you wish you can select "Unpublished Only" to see only the media items which are raw.

6) Select and drag any items you want into the Gallery on the right, a conformation of how many items you added will briefly appear as a small number.

7) Click on your gallery, to bring up the gallery in MyMedia view

8) Click the icon in navigation at the top which looks like a 4-way arrow (on right of the icons, just to the left of search)

9) Use this tool to re-order items in the gallery as you wish them to display.

Done!

Now, we don't have any solid linking to the galleries, because they are simply not ready for primetime. In the future it will be a lot easier to find the ones you've created.

For now, to find your gallery you have to go to the Photo of the day view (https://newschoolers.com/nspg/14.0/Photo_Of_Day?m=345550)

Then click "member Galleries"

Search for your new gallery

Click on your new gallery.

Blammo.

Again - don't fret at how clunky this experience seems. This is what we're still working on, and the reason that this has not been more publicized. Its confusing as all hell, but will be smooth once we finish a few more elements.

I LOVE the recently viewed pictures on the top. grabbed so many good random pics for desktop wallpapers.

Why is my quiver picture gone? it wont load.

I see 2 "quiver" pictures in your media. One titled "Quiver 10/11" and the other "The ones that survived". Both load fine. Is there another you are missing?

Which icons do you mean?

Everything. Nothing on the my media page is clickable except the search button.

Do you have media items in there?

Yeah the galleries could be used as albums as well for sure. The one thing we did not add is private galleries, so note as you publish them they will go live on the site.

In the picture viewing section (click pictures) there is a link to view full-sized under each photo.

We have not added them to the slide show view yet, but are intending on it.

SO please, before you choose to freak out and go crazy - just make some helpful suggestions and we'll listen.

i click view full size, it's not full size

let me be a bit more specific. When I click view full size, it begins to load the full sized image. and when it is done, it instantly scales it. that is NOT a full size image.

Right... but there is a difference between SCALING and SIZING an image.

I find it annoying when I click on an image and it is 4x bigger than my screen. So the new system displays you a full SIZE image (full quality) just scaled to the maximum size of your browser.

Is this not a much better viewing experience?

no, i want to be able to open a photo to the original image size so i can

1. use them as a wallpaper
2. get an image back that i uploaded but can't find the original of

perfect example, my photo that was chosen as the photo of the day today, i was asked by some people to get a full res version for a wallpaper. I told them to just click the image, and to our surprise, it doesn't work the way it always has.

IT IS THE ORIGINAL IMAGE SIZE. READ MY TEXT BEFORE CONDEMNING ME.

SCALING is different than thumbnailing or re-sizing. Scaling only makes the photo the size of the window, it does not change the dimensions of the physical file you're looking at.

Please, please, please... before you judge listen to what I'm saying. We have put immense amounts of research into this stuff.

If you want to have a conversation about how you would prefer to click that link and then have a photo you can't see fully come up, then that is a separate (and In my opinion rediculous) argument. However, I'm willing to have it if what you're saying is you want to click that and not be able to see the image because its too big for your screen.

then the text should say view large, because it isn't viewing the full size image then

it is still the full higher resolution image, set to fit in the new window that opens. if you like the photo and want to make it your wallpaper, right click and save or set as desktop wallpaper. better yet, maximize your window to see if the image is big enough to use as a wallpaper.

what they have done is way, way better looking. i don't want to zoom out or have to scroll up, down, left, or right to see whats in the picture.

No i'm not going to quit bitching. The photo gallery worked perfectly fine before, it didn't need to be changed at all. All they did was make it more confusing. Everything was presented upfront and cleanly before, it didn't need to be changed.

Lets break your argument down so I can give you an internetz lesson, and a bit of knowledge about how photos work.

What you are asking for is that the image opens up and is BIGGER THAN YOUR SCREEN IF THAT IS THE PIXEL DIMENSIONS OF THE IMAGE.

Fine. The system does not do that anymore because that is stupid.

WHY do you want this?

1. So people can get the FULL QUALITY image and save it.
2. So you can see the FULL QUALITY image.

Image QUALITY and Size on screen are separate issues. What you think is happening is that the full quality image is being re-sampled, re-processed and displayed as a smaller image. You are complaining that now that what you see does not extend beyond the borders of your monitor, you are convinced this image QUALITY has been affected.

You are not possibly more wrong.

In order to maintain IMAGE QUALITY and USER EXPERIENCE, we utilized a window sizing technique, which simply proportionally displays the FULL QUALITY image in the largest window possible given your monitor size. The browser will do this for you.

HOWEVER THE IMAGE IS THE ORIGINAL IMAGE.

This is what is being shown in your case:

Open that up, and you will see that the dimensions of the photo are 2553x1726, and FUNNY ENOUGH if you click zoom in, you will see your dear friend the photo which is too big for your monitor.

Same happens if you click to view full size image, you can right click on it, save as, and see that on your hard disk it is the 100% full quality image.

I really apologize for the totally hostile tone, but I appear to be having trouble getting my point across. We always welcome feedback, but we need it to be constructive and for people to open their minds to some of the changes we made. We have gone to deep lengths to make this stuff work in super cool manners.

Am I willing to go back on something we did? Absolutely! Look at the latest added issue. We totally admitted we were wrong.

However, I will not revert a change "Just cauz you liked the old one better." Especially when the thing you are angry at is founded on flawed logic.

We are tasked with looking through what users ask and interpreting what you actually want vs. what you're saying. You have no way of understanding the complexities of the code backend of the site, nor should you!

What you want is that you are clearly a fantastic photographer, and you have a shot that is absolutely epic. Hell I want shots like that to be what graces the cover of newschoolers. I want this site to be a rich and awesome photo experience birthed out of the talent of the people on this site who deserve more recognition in our industry.

What you want is people to be able to make your photo a wallpaper, you want them to see it, you want them to see the full quality wonder that you created.

We were absolutely careful to maintain that, while not having a user experience that opens up a photo to a mode where people can't SEE the beauty of it.

So I'm not trying to fuck with you - I'm trying to tell you that your needs are the most important, and the ones that we already have designed the system around. You just need to open your mind up to the fact that we're pretty decent at this, and have thought this through pretty extensively.

And in the end, if enough people really want the click to make the photo too big for your monitor view back, then shit... we'll just put it back.

Doug, when you get a chance, I needs lesson on cult galleries. I have been trying to figure out how to create galleries and organize photos into them in BAJ 101. Enlightenment required!

AH - so yeah this is one change that was a little confusing.

First off, the hirarchy of cult status now goes like this:

1. MASTER (can do anything)
2. CONTRIBUTOR (Can contribute content, moderate, invite)
3. LEADER (can invite others, and I believe moderate)

Since the system switched I had to re-adjust your permissions.

NOW.

TO UPLOAD MEDIA:

Click Pictures (or videos)

Click upload at the top

Add whatever media you need.

TO MOVE MEDIA INTO CHANNELS AND GALLERIES

Click "My Cult"

Click "Media Manager"

Boom - now you're sitting in the MyMedia for this cult specifically.

Here you can manage all of it.

The other complicated part is that you can actually manage the cult media directly from your own personal MyMedia page. Once you are of a high enough level, you can toss media into whatever cult channel you want.

Again, sounds confusing as all fuck... and it is. Mapping out the permissions under every possible situation was a fucking nightmare.

When we do a better job of polishing the interface it will be more intuitive... but you early adopters can dive in and fuck around.

If you accidentally find yourself in control of a media channel you shouldn't be... don't mess with it. BE NICE!

Yes, but nothing is clickable.

When flipping through items in my media (pictures in this case) using the metadata inspector, and using the next/previous button, its realllly slow. It usually gets stuck halfway through fading from one image to the next. This may be my browser/internet but i find that unlikely.

It is the first image in the post picks of your drop in thread. How can I get that image into the drop in gallery that I have created? Is the only way to do it to download it on to my pc and then load it back up again? I want our galleries to have copies of all the photos that are in the threads, but downloading and then re-uploading them will take forever. Thx.

hey i have a question about the my media page. i uploaded a picture to it and im trying to get it into my picture page but i cant click any of the controlls in the my media page. am i not doing something right? or what should i be doing?
