97 in the park?

ok so i was wondering how well a ski at 97 waist will do in the park mainly for jumping and occasional rails jibbing etc

Seems like they've built it to be their ultimate all mountain ski.
If you don't spend all your time in the park, and will be using the ski for the rest of the mountain just as much, or a little less. You'll be fine.

If you're looking for a ski for mainly park, I'd look into a ski with a narrower waist.

im probably gonna go for the ski they make thats a 90 waist so i can still charge some pow but hit the park its a more park specific ski

i know this is a dumb question but, what are the main benefits of having a narrower ski in the park? Just quicker edge to edge or what?

Dude I ride nothin under 100 now....even in park....it's a different style and takes a little gettin used to but once ya do it's sooo much better....unless of course your a super pro huckin double rodeos everywhere ya go....then yes you need a narrower waist for a slew of reasons....but if the biggest thing your throwin is 5s....don't be scared of a wider ski.

Have you looked into other skis? There are some other skis out there with narrower waists that are still above 90mm.

Also, why are those skis so cheap? Something seems up, sorry. It's just something I'd question.

Mostly it's much easier to do alot of the more tech stuff with a narrower waist....easier for change ups on rails, easier to get that last 180 in off a booter, etc.....there's alot of other reasons too like less weight and so on....but personally I dig bigger floatier tricks and am starting to shy away from destroying skis on rails so I've been doin the new new old school thing....haha....like a wider ski underfoot kinda like the way the Lizzie was?....to me they're jus more fun.

i rode rossignol s3's in the park last season they were 96 underfoot. you'll be fine.

Yeah dude last year I started rockin my bacons for everything, including 100% park days and I was blown away by how much fun a wider ski is...it was a progression though of the chronics to cryptos to bacons and now to opus....I had lizzies way back when they first hit the scene but always kinda thought they were a novelty ski and figured it was jus me who dug em....haha....used to take those out on the park days I did with my snowboard buddies....didn't realize how much I loved em till I sold em....then I jus kinda forgot about that style of skiing till last year when I ran my bacons through the park for the first time....now I've recognized that there is different fun factor to a wide ski as an everyday and I've become a big pusher for not shying away from a fat ski.....it's a different style...more surfy/floaty but so much fun.

Then don't get a wide ski, if low is shit and you don't think you'll get much Poe skiing, focus on a ski with a waist under 100

Well I live on the east coast and rode bacons everyday....I plan on riding the opus everyday this year...but it's a preference thing....would I recommend that everyone use the opus as an everyday ski?....heck no....what I would say to you however is get something between 90-100 underfoot...the '12 chonics would be good....get a feel for a wider ski and then demo somethin wider to see if it speaks to your style of skiing....if your the park rat type that hikes the same rail over and over than absolutely get a cheap park ski cause you'll destroy em hittin rails constantly....but if your more into big floaty airs and playing all over the mountain, regardless of pow, I'd say at least consider a wide ski because they really are a ton of fun and obviously super stable underfoot.

Some people love riding the fat skis in the park, and it takes just a little getting used to, but as for me I like thin park skis. Why? Faster ussually and lighter mostly, and quicker on rails for sure and spinning. The railz part is the biggest thing, just so much faster to do switch ups on and spins out. They just carry out so much better and I feel just more confident on them on the railz and jumps. Getting those last spins in, I like them thin. My opinion though and there are kids that kill it in the park with fat skis, even hellbents, its just a different feel.

Agreed....I think it's two completely different styles of skiing is all...not one better than the other...just different....my biggest thing is that most people don't even realize that you can take a ski like say the bacons, through the park on a non pow day and have an absolute blast....everyone should try a negative nose butter on a box rockin 110+ waisted skis at least once in their lives....super cool.....but yeah....two different styles for sure....a tech style and a floaty style.
