Does money really make you happy?

I hear a lot of people say that money can't buy happiness and I know money's not everything but.... it sure seems like it would make me happy. If I had tons of money I could just do whatever I wanted and then keep everything else that I like in my life. Sounds good to me. Thoughts?

Making decisions on what I believe to be righteous requires no fuel.
Not all successes require financial input.
I don't think there is any doubt that I act a certain way because of the environment in which I was raised. I fail to see your point on materialism here.

Of course not and of course not. I strongly disagree that the use of currency makes one 'materialistic'.
You should have made the skiing point originally. Perhaps our definitions of materialism differ.
Someone who doesn't care if they're rocking the latest gear because they just want to shred and have fun: NOT materialistic (in my books).
Someone who won't be seen on the mountain without the latest Saga gear and Armada skis: materialistic (in my books).
You?

happiness is a relative term... you know what i mean? for example three people each say they are happy one is lying the other two probably have different scopes of emotion, what might feel like total bliss to one might be kinda 'warm and fuzzy' to the other. money is something we are all in together people get emotional over other peoples money. are you happy case you have a "good job" or do you have a "good job" because you are happy... who is happier the ginger who lives at home and just gave some bum $5 or the guy that makes $100 hanging out downtown?

It depends on the situation your in when you "have money". growing up i just lived a normal life, we werent broke but defiinitly not rich and lived with my grandparents. then my mom got remarried and we had quite a bit of cash. A big house and 20acres shit sure as hell didnt make me happy i still ended up moving into my dads duplex with him like i always wanted to.
