dkirseyou guys the last 5 days of my life have been weirdly rad. super stoked on 2018 so far. plus I'm applying to a real job in the industry that I actually think I can get/be really good at. stay tuned.
also trying to solidify spring break plans right now and it's looking like I'll be skiing 3-4 days at Squaw with a pal from Powder and then spend the rest of break in Mexico City with my brother. Absolutely pumped.
safarisamI went to High School in Reno, so it's just the return that scares me
DaphMy roommate left his Bible on the counter last night. Weird. Now I want to draw a nice big satanic goat skull and hang it on my door

OregonDeadMaybe he just had it out for some late night reading? Nothing wrong with that.
If you are good at drawing for sure draw a dope goat skull though and post up a picture.
DeebieSkeebiesthis week has been pure garbage despite the snow, but getting cut loose at 2:30 with enough time to get a hike in on the lower mtn bowls and some gladed aspens and wicked turns was nice.
knee hurts still, and its not the meniscus. its behind the knee which makes me feel even worse lol

OregonDeadFuck, take care of that knee man. Glad to hear you are still getting after it though. Hope you have been getting some all time turns like I have to make it all worth it.
cydwhitThis coloring book is a LOT of work, but it's sooooooo dang close, and I think people are going to love it. Just need to get enough interest to make it viable to print. So hyped!
DeebieSkeebiesdumbass east coast drivers in the snow? i raise you holiday powder panic traffic in utah. it was literally backed up from the base area of the canyons past the on-ramp to park city alllllll the way up the interstate like a mile and a half, its even worse if you're trying to get to snowbird/alta/solitude/brighton. Ive waited in 2-hour long traffic jams just to ski pow.
safarisamHi, I know you graduated but I'm visiting UNR March 12th. Because I'm in Reno for about a week.
PataguccimaneYo if I had a shot for every time this announced has asked “are you kidding me!?!?” I’d probably actually be kidding him since I’d be so fucked up
Profahoben_212Is it worthy?
PataguccimaneGutted for Torin, damn that run was for sure on it’s way to gold. Hyped for Wise, Alex and Porteus though!

.lenconterrible in terms of what?
Profahoben_212Why would that be bad?
taylornickyIt’s considered “educational inbreeding” and can look unprofessional due to the lack of diversity in education

nutz.Depends on the major and the school, what are you planning on doing?
taylornickyMasters or PhD in organic chemistry. Open to schools. Will go with whichever gives me the most scholarship support.
iFlipThere is an enormous difference in those two degrees. You need to narrow in your focus, then make your decision. You will need to do this both for you and for the applications.
For the Masters, you will need to pay tuition, unless you are already employed somewhere and they are paying for you to earn the Masters. For the PhD, you will receive a stipend and tuition will be covered. It will be significantly more difficult to be accepted into a PhD program than a Masters program. It is for this reason that many students pursue a Masters, then apply to a PhD program.
If you do intend to teach, then you will almost certainly need the PhD. If you know this now, then getting accepted into a PhD program makes the most sense as it will save you a large sum of money. If you have the resume/publications to get into a doctoral program, go for it from the get-go. You will be awarded a Masters after ~2 years in the program anyway.
Understand that at the doctoral level you are not looking at scholarships so much as you are looking at stipends and grants. Your average PhD stipend ranges from around $17K to $35K/yr. You will be expected to teach/TA, and this will be required for your stipend.
taylornickyThe majority of masters programs I’ve looked into actually have a lot of options when it comes to stipends and being a TA to cover tuition.
I don’t want to become a teacher or professor as a career. I know that much. But yeah I do need to narrow down my wants and needs. I just don’t know haha ugh
Carl_the_LlamaDebating entering a junior big mountain comp as it's something I've always wanted to do, and this will be the last year I'll be able to. Downside, just coming home from a big trip and it's gonna be a pretty decent cost as well as it being 3 hours from my house... Worth it? Fack
