Well id be pissed if I took my family somewhere amazing but expensive and got 7 runs in within 5 hours. Those lift line vids are fucked.

cant forget about getting those 5 runs in 5 hours with a proper lunch. go ski down to the new miner lodge or whatever, drop $100+ on lunch, got your trays full of tasty treats but hey, guess what! no where to sit! so you and your groms are squeezed into a table with other families and stuff.
but nah its like record-breaking crowds, some of the most people ive ever seen in this town and its not even film fest season yet. Locals like to pump it up and over-exaggerate but this was a bad commute out today and tomorrow will be even worse. Deer valley sold out for the 2nd day in a row, will sell out tomorrow for the 3rd time, and forget about PC/Canyons. Oh my god, panic-attack inducing stuff. The park lift had a 45 minute wait because First Time had an hour wait, anything upper mountain is a wash because snowpack isnt the best and that's where all the crowds are headed as well. My friends are all coaches for TPCU and said that this is probably the worst week of coaching they've had just from a logistics standpoint. Kids literally getting lost in crowds, so they all have to ski in like single formation lines and groups so no one gets lost. Its wild.
Not enough terrain open, warm temps, decent weather at least but, just far too many asses on chairlifts right now. Good for shopowners I guess but you can barely even get into town and park/go shopping/dining/etc. Taxis and shuttles are all behind schedule, shits a bit of a mess yo and I cant imagine what it would be like if it was nuketown.
And of course the pattern looks like it may change by the 5-7th of January so we're totally fine with powtown again while everyones back east in school and at work.
Till they all come out for MLK/presidents/Spring break, etc. Keep them tip dollars coming, pls. thnx.

That shit just looks insane, at my local hill I've seen the lift line to the top go back about 120ft when the Massholes are on vacation. Luckily I'm not in school so when I go to PC it's end of the season and awesome. My OG best friend is on team PC and I can't imagine trying to get ready for comps with 1000 jerries.

Yeah they all have such good training facilities all the kids are insane. My homies joe Lauer, been tight for about 15 years, he's gotten so good since he moved out there. Met a lot of the team in past years, all pretty cool kids and the coaches are awesome.

its changed its name over the years but I was on that team for years as a grom and owe my love for skiing from that. My pipe coach tim maney aka timzilla is the reason why I ski still ahah

Teaching is especially hard with such a small footprint because there’s nowhere on the mountain that’s decidedly safe for kids. Ugh STRESS. But also I’m making bank sooo thanks Vail.

I am blaming this bad winter on all the skier women who claim they love to ski, but really only go out when conditions are top notch. The snow gods are not pleased with their attitudes.

I honestly didn't think the typical upside down goggles and backwards skis Jerrys actually existed until I personally saw one at my local Hill in cold blood the other week. The real ones are pre much unicorns imo.

I'm pretty sure it's the ChromaPop Storm, however Squad XL has the Storm Rose Flash, not the pure Storm.

Whenever tour groups from other countrys come to my home mountain I see at least one person wearing their helmet backwards. Rental skis get left in the weirdest places too.

I disagree, even at it peak I feel like VR will be just as gimmicky as it is now. People wanna experience real shit, even if VR becomes hyper realistic it won't be nearly as satisfying.

no but automation might. some hotels already have kiosks for over-night check ins which gets rid of night auditors. on the other hand, your front office managers are constantly stressed because they have the wonderful duties of accounting and making sure everything adds up but its probably cheaper in terms of operation in the long run.
I don't think VR or anything will ruin the hospitality industry at all. There is a reason places like the waldorf astorias and ritz-carltons, etc, are popular somewhat household names and have survived so long; wherever there is exceptional service in absolutely stunning amazing settings like ski towns, people are certainly going to line up to pay a bit extra to have their asses kissed and treated like royalty.
too be fair, im a bit biased as a hospitality major and someone who has been working at one of the worlds most well known and renowned resort for a few years, but people have been frequenting here for decades solely based on the service aspect. You cannot replace one-on-one human interaction and especially that personalized style of service and attention to details.
When it comes to clientel of certainly insane wealth, these industries will always thrive. There is a reason people spend their money here, own second homes here, spend every Christmas since their kids were infants out here, etc. You get the idea but hospitality is actually one of the largest private-sector employers and engrosses billions annually. There is no sign in ceasing at all. The economy is in decent shape and as long as that happens, people are gonna feel a bit lavish and treat themselves to some kick-ass vacations, and that's where us ski bums come into play haha.
Yeah but people say the same thing about communicating these days. How we interact via the Internet/social media isn’t as good as the “real thing” (face to face etc.) but we still use it because it’s easy and accessible.
In the future (like way distant future)if VR got to be so advanced and accessible it could possibly act as a substitute to actually going places, in a similar way that phones substitute communicating. I guess using vacationing is a bad example, but going sight seeing and those types of activities may be substituted.
I don’t know, it’s just interesting to think about I guess.
I havent skied at all really and the Targhee Comp is coming up fast....plus tahoe has 0 snow....gunna be going to targhee with no cliffs under my belt this season.
