I'm trying to move west this year. I originally was looking for housing in Summit County before totally bailing on that plan due to the shitstorm that is their local housing market. Changed my plans and have been looking for housing in Bend, OR since August and have made 0 progress. Luckily, this morning I got ahold of a landlord in OR who happens to be from the same area of NH I grew up in and can relate to my situation.. Fingers crossed things move forward with that this week otherwise I'm at the point where I'm ready to just send it and live in my car until I can find somewhere to lay my head permanently.
Randy_QuenchTHANK THE LORD BABY JESUS. Just put down a deposit and first/last months rent on a newer 3BR house in Bend. Stoked I didn't go through a shitty property management company either. Gonna show Mt. Bachelor how us East coast boys get it done!

.lenconAwesome. Driggs area has a much better housing situation for sure. Also, Jackson is just on the other side of the mountains, so you'll be able to ski there pretty easily if you want. Targhee and the mountains around there are sweet. I just live a few hours south of Targhee, so if I head up there or if you come down to shred Pebble Creek (which you should) let me know!!!

Randy_QuenchShits insane out there. Areas like Denver are blowing up so much nowa days that rental owners in the mountains are changing from offering long-term leases to short vacation rentals to support the weekend warriors from out of town. I can't really blame the owners because they can probably pocket twice as much as they did before, but it's still a huge issue for resort employees and such who keep these resorts operating.
What I'm paying for a four year-old 3BR/3BA house with a garage, washer/dryer, etc. in Bend is about the same as what a ratbag single bedroom/studio in Summit costs.
OregonDeadBend is f'king expensive so that is saying something.
OregonDeadDoesn't last very long though. Especially looking back on it. Sucky high school times suck though so vibes man. Just be patient though and next thing you know high school will be over.
milk_manI built a backyard towrope at my friend's house last winter (I have a video of it on here) but then like a week after getting it operating the starter went out and I never fixed it...... I really want to get it going again haha

Randy_QuenchEveryone I spoke with regarding housing in Bend said the same thing. Hah, if that's how they feel in Bend they'll have a heart attack if they ever try to move to Summit. For now I'll stick to visiting the homies in Summit rather than joining them permanently.

DrZoidbergLol high school is great. I think kids tend to overlook the fact that, for those four years, you know exactly what you're doing every day of the week. You're not looking for a job that'll actually sustain you living on your own. You're not worrying about paying rent or bills. As long as you don't fuck up real bad then you're fine.
