Haha I never look up at randos like that. I just try and be polite to employees I encounter or people I talk to on the phone. Its just being polite in our world full of uptight pricks.

I always remember seeing my mum do it when I was a kid so it just kinda stuck + living in a small town you know like every second person anyway haha. a lot of people just really fkn hate their job/life and that's reflected in how they treat people

I smiled at this girl when I was walking out of my University Center last year because she smiled at me. She walked up to me and said that she really appreciated that I acknowledged her and I couldn't tell if she was trying to fuck with me or if she was actually serious.

sounds sincere, she could've been having a really shitty day and you smiling at her probably made it a whole lot better. it's tiny things like that that people don't think will have an effect on people but they do! keep it up

Yeah I mean obviously if its a shit job theyre not gonna be to happy to start. I got a drink at a Shell station the other day and the quirky looking cashier said "I hope you have a terrific day" and I was very surprised to hear that from someone working that job. I work with my mom at a ski shop and I always noticed lately that she greets people and thanks them in a super nice manner even if they were difficult customers. Some of my friends are like that so I kinda picked it up from them too.

different circumstances though, like that cashier job seems shitty to us, but to that woman it could be the only job that was available/she could get, and so she's grateful as heck to even HAVE a job you know? there's maybe a load of other things she has to be grateful for too. people just get caught up in wishing that they had more because of what he see others' getting/having that we don't really appreciate how fkn lucky we are to live the lifes we do in the first place

Thats true Id rather live paycheck to paycheck than sit on the streets. Regardless, everyone should try and be polite in all those types of interactions.

i know its old news but my buddy sent me this on FB after talking to him about dabbling with some touring this year and learning up on all the important things that come into play and its easily one of the most terrifying things i can think of:

its the Tunnel Creek slide that happened near stevens pass a few years ago. Huge group that got trapped with some unfortunate fatalities. Makes you think about "What if that was your group of friends?", and there have been numerous occasions i wanted to slap the shit out of some of my buddies for going past the gates at The Canyons without any gear, or saying shit like "its okay dude, i got my gear so you'll be fine."

number 1 thing i gather thus far from beginning avalanche education is there is absolutely zero room for fuck ups and poor decisions lead to dying.

Guess I had a dream within the last like minute of being a sleep. At what seemed to be my home mountain and Carinthia combined. Sent off a little pow booter into one of the park runs, almost hit someone who I then found out was fuckin Reed Lewis and I apologized, continue on and some dude screams at me asking if I was in an argument with someone, I ski off. Guy finds me in the lodge says "come here asshole" as if I had just murdered someone and then I woke up. Dreams are fucked.

If your looking to develop a six pack or generally a strong core, crunches are one of the most inefficient ways of going about it. Look up some ab exercises online, there are a few that are really easy to learn and rip your core much more effectively than crunches

I used to go like 7MPH over the whole 15 minute drive, and there was ALWAYS some cunt tailgating the shit out of me. Every single day. Karma goes both ways, and I got sick of people rushing me.

I have a whole new perspective on 9/11 after going to school with so many people from Long Island and the city. Ive always taken it serious, but they actually lived it. That actually happened to them... They know people who were in the towers, or were supposed to be in the towers, or the emergency personnel etc. That's their home and hearing them talk about it is eye opening. Makes it feel more real in a way. Crazy stuff. But things like this is why I enjoy meeting new people. Aside from how sad this specific event is/was, hearing about other things from different points of view is always really cool.
