even though the ns mobile site is pretty good, it would be nice to be able to get a notifacation when you get a messsage and stuff. so if your working out a deal with a kid you arent sitting on you phone checking ns over and over again. or like to see if people are talking on the thread that you made or shit like that
Mobile site could be better.. but would be pointless to spend the time upgrading. App would be the way to go. You could start it off the source code of the "already created" iphone app. Although, I'm sure there is someone that would be more than happy to create the app for NS.
First lets think, there are 3 main platforms for apps, Apple Android and Blackberry, and even within those different versions of their operating systems that require some various tweaks. Now none of these apps programming is the same as the others so we would require 3 different sets of programmers with specific skill sets, which costs money for the initial build from scratch. On top of that, any time there are changes to either the site or the platforms we have to make changes (just after we launched the first iNS Apple decided to change a few things and basically broke our app) again costing money.
Now you look at the mobile site, which is essentially a stripped down version of the full site for easy viewing on a small screen. It works on all 3 platforms, as well as other devices with mobile browsers. Its coded using the same technology as the main site so our own programmers can maintain it. We are also in control of what changes are deployed and when, making it very easy to keep up to date. We can easily ad features and everyone gets access to them right away.
Now not to say we won't look at apps again in the future, just for the time being we feel its much better to use our resources to work on all the features of the full site, and then the mobile site, instead of spreading ourselves even thinner trying to maintain apps at the same time
