Hard drive HELP!

external? internal? is it your only drive? second drive? What kind of a mac?

first format it for mac osx extended journal under the erase tab. then partion it.

sorry, external, i have the internal and 2 other externals, it's a powerbook

WARNING: This will erase all data from your drive Permanently!

1. Open your “Utilities” folder. (Click “Go”, on top of the finder window. Click “Utilities”) 2. Scroll and find “Disk Utility” and double click the icon.
3. Click the drive you need to reformat in the left column. (Be sure you click the drive, and the previous partition.)
4. On the right side, click the “Partition” tab on the top of the window.
5. From the “Volume Scheme” choose “1 Partition”, then click options. There will be 3 choices. Choose the lower option “GUID”
6. Click the drop down box, and choose “Mac OS Extended (Journaled)”, and give your drive a name.
7. Click “Apply” and “Partition” -Done.

Get some partition software, Disk Utility is pretty basic. Disk Warrior, iPartition or similar. Check Google or MacRumors.
