Honestly, I dunno about this. I feel like it's gonna be some sort of gimmicky BS. I feel like Freeskier already has enough "backcountry" articles in it, just there's no meat to it. That's the problem with Freeskier, there's nothing there. Sure there are cool pictures, mediocre gear reviews, and loads of ads, but nothing worthy of purchasing the magazine. If Freeskier can actually step up production, cut some ads, and write interesting and stimulating articles (especially if that includes "backcountry") then they will get more traffic on their website, and more subscribers to their magazine.

eh i feel like the average reader of freeskier is just a park rat anyway, so not many of their subscribers are gonna read that stuff. Myself for instance. I live in NY, and could really care less about BC stuff because i have never experienced any of that stuff.

well considering they've hired a senior editor, a project manager for the bc issue, a new online editor, and a new asst. editor JUST in 2011 alone, I think we will have a fair amount of new blood helping guide the magazine this year...

I'm stoked on more backcountry exclusive content! Everyone loves the big mountain segments in ski movies, the big cliffs, gnarly high consequence lines and huge epic ranges always get the crowds going, probably even more so than the jibbing and jumps.
