Not stoked to be from this city right now. Though the rioters aren't "us". My facebook wall is chock full of people upset with the rioters. I'll be down there tomorrow for a show so we'll see if it's still trashed. I don't see them cleaning everything up very quickly...

God i feel terrible to be a vancouverite right now. I at CBC the whole time and even in the first period you could tell tons of people were there just to start shit. More then half of them werent even from vancouver and wouldve rioted either way. It was kinda cool watching for a bit but then cocktails started flying and i got the fuck out of there. just pretty stupid to me, people need to get lives or get a tatoo to entertain themselves. not this

Now it's time to stir the pot! FUCK CANADA! I wanted the Canucks to win this game; however, after seeing this type of behavior I have lost any respect I had for them as a team and have lost a lot of respect for Vancouver, BC, and even Canada as a whole. I am not a die hard hockey fan, but I am definitely a Sharks fan. Not only do I think the Sharks would have been a better match for the Bruins, but they also would have handled a loss better than those fucks up there in Vancouver. Also, before anyone jumps on me, I realize that many of the rioting/looting/vandalism is not coming from fans, but rather from people who had planned for this. Funny how just a few can ruin it for everyone, eh?

I just looked around for news articles on it and apparently there is definitely someone in critical condition from a fall off the bridge, no one seems to know yet if they were pushed, fell or jumped though.

I'm not condoning this act of violence by what I am about to state.  I do feel bad for the guy that died, But honestly what was the guy doing up there?  and on a second note.  The fans of Boston in Boston were no better they would have done the same thing to a Canuck fan.   They tried to pull a guy out of a cab who was wearing a Canucks jersey.  True story.  Secondly there was one Boston fan I seen on the news that could have done a few things to prevent from getting beat up on the street.  When an old guy steps in to help you don't punch him in the back of the head.   I can almost guarantee that Part of it was some Boston fans Getting them going.   People shouldn't have let them get under their skin, but you know what shit happens.  We have all seen it go down in history this is just another riot in Van to go down in the books.  I certainly let Boston get under my skin.  not gonna lie about that cause its blatantly obvious I'm pissed.  Canucks had everything going their way, and they choked.  Part Luongo's fault, part of all the players faults.  In the spectrum of things though you should never make a goalie Captain.  But back to the threads topic.  I'm not disgraced about what van's doing.  Shit happens I cant stop it.   Some people will just never learn.  also part of the Riot was started by the cops.  By them attacking the crowd, the crowd retaliated.  That's the thing with dealing with large crowds of people you need to sway them, and not enforce them to do what you want.  Sorry for making such a big post but taking a break from it all has kinda cleared my hot headedness(not a real word) towards the subject.

it's so far past the point of being about hockey. And the one's causing the trouble certainly aren't hockey fans. They're those few idiots who just pounced on the opportunity to stir shit up. And from what I've seen, the police could have handled this so so much better than they did. you think they would have put together a real game plan to stop it before it started knowing this was a real possibility. But no, even in a press conference before the game they said they were not expecting any violence at all.

fuck i cant quote on my phone but to natty_ice, its my own fault. i knew that someone was in critical condition after falling off the viaduct and then i got several texts from my friends who were with me saying it was a boston fan who was pushed. its all over twitter but hopefully it was just an exaggeration. sorry for jumping the gun everyone!

Like I said, fans and cities are what makes a team. Here's an example for you. Earlier this season a Giants fan was put into critical condition because two Dodgers fans beat the piss out of him at a season opener. The players may have had no association with the incident, but it sure as hell reflects back on the ball club. I have never liked the Dodgers, but that sure as hell does not help. Fans reflect back on a team. It's the same reason I didn't want Boston to win. Now all those New England fucks will have even bigger egos.

But seriously, judging this city, and a whole country, because of a couple shit disturbers (that everyone in the city is super pissed at) rioting? The actual fans applauded the bruins for their win, and then went home. It's all over Vancouver news, and none of the rioters look like vancouver fans to me.

for those of you that went into vancouver to watch the game...how ddi you get out of the city? i'm watching the CTV live feed/news and they said about 10 min ago that public transit wasn't safe in some spots

I'll clear this up with you since you actually read my post fairly clearly. I have not lost respect for all for Canada, I think it's a great country, but I get a kick out of fucking with Canadians on here. I am definitely disappointed in what's occurring in Vancouver, but shit happens. Obviously part of me is mad because I wish my Sharks had gone to the finals since they get so close each year, but this is a pretty disappointing sight to see.

Right after the game it was fine. The rioting didn't really start until half an hour or so after the game, or at least it wasn't widespread until then. All my friends got home easy.

welcome to the internet a world of communication error.  to clear this up for you I was meaning shit happens as in people get under your skin.  we all have an enemy.  The thing that buddhism teaches you is to try and learn from your enemies and not let them faze you.  Not a good example of what happened in Vancouver.  I'm not going to lie it was fun to watch though.  To clear it up before it is stated I'm meaning its fun to watch the people being retards on TV like people jumping on the fence trying to break it when it was never gonna break.  Then there's also the cop car.  Did you see it? no, it wouldn't have been, because widespread riots simply do not happen in boston anymore. There wasn't one when the pats lost the superbowl, or when any of the teams won.

In fact, despite winning every championship there is to win in the last decade, there's only been one death, and it was accidental.


To be honest, i think most of it comes from size. Vancouver is a large city, and therefore there are going to be more people who just want to cause problems.


But if the death of a bruins fan is true...that's infuriating. And don't say "Well what was he doing in that position?!"

...he was celebrating a sports team victory. Nothing to get killed over.

I am mad at this post but with your second post I find myself forgiving you, and the reason Sharks fans would not riot is because there are like all of 5 of them (not the under statement) that take hockey seriously. And this happens in every city in Europe when there soccer team wins or looses especially in Poland where sit gets fucked up fast.
