I don't understand why nobody seems to like this ski. Outside of NS everybody praises it and loves it. Was looking into saving up enough cash to get a pair for next season but now I'm skeptical. A list of reasons to why you love/hate the JJ would be helpful. And what do you mean, noodle?
i think you have that wrong... look the "where do i mount my JJ's" thread that was just above yours. lol. JJ's one of the most popular pow sticks out there.
but also one of the most hyped, by armada self but also by others/the community.. There are a lot of ski's that have camber underfoot and rocker in the tip and tails, JJs are not always the best choise! Think about size, flex, turn radius, rocker design, eff edge, do you want a bigger/longer camber part or bigger rockers, etc etc
one of the main reasons the jj's are awesome and i love them is because they have the camber/rocker to sidecut profile dialed. if u look at the jj, the skis sidecut matches the rocker and camber perfectly. ive ridden other pow skis and cant understand why many companies take a normal sidecut mold fatten it and add rocker to it. you need to have camber where you have sidecut and rocker where you have reverse sidecut.
That also has a downfall (for some, not all):stupidly short turn radius. When you have a ski like this, you have a very short effective edge, because the tapered tips and tails will NEVER engage no matter how much you lean them over. With something that is more traditionally shaped but rockered, you still get the floatation of rocker, but still get all the effective edge of a normal ski when you put them on edge. It's a great design (that I love, I gots me a pair), but has its drawbacks too. Another good point about the design is the swing weight. Because more of the weight of the ski is closer to your feet, they feel stupidly light.
Nice ski but it's too flappy, the rocker is too abrupt, they ski very short, so all in all they are unnecessarily unversatile. They're outclassed by so many other skis.
JJs are sick no doubt about it, they are prolly getting hate from some of the people on NS because it rocked by some many old guys now a dayz and the old guys love them
Theres so much wrong with this statement, but to back up my corrections I'd have to release prototype specs that took a long time to try out. Let it be said that contact point of profile matching with taper point exactly = shit, at least compared to moving it just 3cm.
this may be true for minorly rockered skis but as far as powder skis, your not gonna get the front 30 cm or so of tip to touch because the rocker is so exaggerated. this is why it makes sense to taper this portion of the ski and thus make it better at slicing up and over powder. yes they do have minimal sidecut but the why would u expect to rip gs turns on a 115 mm waist ski anyways?
More versatile and lighter than any other pow ski i've tried. The only people ive met who don't like them are big guys who charge super hard for whom they are too soft and those on the on3p bandwagon who will rubbish any other ski.
