Replying to Snow sticking to skins. solutions?
I know this is more fit for the TGR crowd, but I'd rather try and keep it NS.
So, in the spring when the sun comes out after some new snow, every once in a while I get a problem where the snow sticks to the bottom of my skins, making touring a nightmare. I think I know why it happens, but I don't really see many ways around it.
I know I'm not the only one (because I have friends who sometimes experience the same problem). I'm just wondering if anyone on here has found a solution to this very irritating situation.
As for how it happens, it's usually on the second - or sometime there after - uphill, after the skins have gotten a little wet. combine that with the very water saturated sun affected snow... when I slide the ski forward it would warm the snow up a little bit more, and when I slide the other ski the snow/skin would cool down enough to ice up every so slightly, thus sticking to the skin. that is what I believe is happening, but again - how to avoind this problem, or fix it after it has started.
