There are 34,000 species of spider, that we know of. Ya, the ark never happened (at least in a literal biblical sense, some guy might have loaded up his goats in a boat in preparation for a flood...)

I hate how religion makes otherwise reasonable people abandon everything they know about the world. That is insanity.

Humans dont asexually reproduce. Not only have we never observed it in recorded history (and believe me, that would make the news, even in prudish 18th century England scientists were obsessed with freaks and oddities and sexual mysteries), but its physically impossible to have a virgin birth (outside of some extremely fucked up hermaphroditic situation, which kinda grosses me out).

Floods - I dont deny at all that there is a possibility that as the Ice Ages ended, huge floods could occur as glacial dams broke and released huge inland lakes that formed on the ice sheets (pretty interesting book about this stuff somewhere, delves into underwater archaeology as well). But floods to kill the wicked sent by a vindictive deity? That covered the earth, killed all the life save what was on Noahs ark.... man, either he had a real big ark or evolution kicked in pretty quick, eh?

i believe that there is. I think the bible is like a book of stories that is meant to teach a moral. It is like all philisophical texts, in that the example stories may not be true, but the overall message is the main point.

then what about the quran? greek mythology?

to be honest, this is even a bit far. if "experiencing life" is the meaning of life, than there would be a problem if nobody experiences life, right?

but lets say tomorrow happens this: all nuclear power plants and all nuclear warheads explode at the same time, literally ripping the earth in pieces and everything is dead before it is even realizing it. no pain, no fear, nothing, just death within a milli second.

in my opinion, this "total genocide case" as i call it shows that the meaning of human life is literally non-existent, because nothing would change. chances are that (even though its pretty safe to say that aliens exist) noone will care.

you can take it farther and destroy the whole universe and all other possibly existing universe and nothing would happen because NOONE would be left to care.

may sound a bit harsh, but thats what i think. we as a planet are not important. not at all. even our whole universe is pretty much senseless. we are just drifting in a river of random activities to make our lifes nice and there is nothing wrong with that, but nobody gives a damn shit (on a global scale) if i am happy or not, or else there would be more effort to make everybody happy.

the quran is essentially the same as the bible. it is a set of(i believe) dramatized stories that are meant to teach morals.

greek mythilogy was just a way to try and explain the way the world worked around the greeks.

the big 3 religons are essentially the same thing, based off the same judeo christian god, and they have the same morals, ethics, rituals, and practices. within each religon there are interpretations of the scripture, where some take the scriptures literally(fundamentalists), while others try to find correlations between the scriptures and their own lives.

a scythe can be used to harvest a wheat crop and feedthe masses, saving them from hunger and pain. But it can also be used to kill(hell its the grim reapers weapon of choice). Religon is meant for good, and to help people in this world, but it can be used as the reasoning for evil acts. But religon is not inherently a bad thing.

Belief in the supernatural isn't inherently bad in that it doesn't directly cause evil. However, it is bad in that it causes a break from reality. It downplays logic and reasoning in favor of cultural or personal bias. This inevitably leads to conflict. It isn't necessarily meant for good either. It's only subjectively good for those who subscribe to it.

Further, if you're referring to the Abrahamic religions specifically, all three are in part based on holy texts that advocate genocide, infanticide, slavery, murdering unbelievers, condemnation of homosexuals, and a whole host of other offensive and deplorable passages. I would submit that, if not the entirety of the texts, those verses are inherently evil. 

Dude, do you know anything about the history of the catholic church? they kept people from reading and expanding their knowledge for hundreds of years just so they could control the masses in europe. i could go on and on. seriously, take a european history class
