DreadLocks

So I have decided to take the leap and get them, after awhile of though I was convinced today after talking to a customer of mine today.

he said the best way is to get them done by a professional so they dont look like big chunks of crap. Now I am in the process of finding a place today them and a simple google search isnt helping.


Tips anyone? i live in Albany NY and its not as easy as you think.

don't get them if you have thinnish hair, you'll have scalp locks

im thinking about getting them soon, but Id say just go around to local barber shops/salons and shit and ask if they do them

or have some friends do them, way cheaper. and they seem pretty easy to do

How long is your hair?

Don't go to a shop to get them done its a waste of time and money. Just find a good friend and post up with them in a comfortable place cause its gonna take awhile.

Never use wax or any shit like that, all it does it ruin your hair and it wont lock up properly, and be all sticky and gooey.

Try and get a good natural shampoo and throw your conditioner away. check out www.drbronner.com, they have some great soaps pretty cheap too. peppermint is my fav.

also, probs the most important: your arent going to get dreads overnight, its a long process and journey and the majority of your hair probs wont be fully locked for atleast a year or 2 depending on your hair type. don't let this discourge you, dreads are great if you have the patience to stay with them.

i would fucking love to have dreads, but although my hair is thick enough, its too curly.

your hair has to be long as fuck too. when you get dreads "made" you lose a lot of length and you dont wanna wind up with little stubby dread-things. i would say shoulder length dreads are the absolute minimum.

also, most girls really dont like em, keep that in mind if you are concerned about getting with girls / being a total ladies man. you might notice a change in how girls look at you lol
