Best jib ski.... uuuuhg.
Look, heres what you do. If you're just doing rails, you're just going to quickly ruin a new set of skis, no matter the brand. Even our skis get edge cracks.
Take your $700 budget and buy:
- 3 sets of used skis from Sell Trade
- 1 set s916, fks, whatevers metal and bombproof
- 3 sets of quiver killers
- 10 cans of spraypaint, markers, whatever the heck you get artsy with.
Prep the skis: Sand the fuck out of everything, topsheets, sidewalls, with a pretty rough grit. Use an angle grinder to cut the edges underfoot down to 45 degree angles, ala OG T-halls. Round them with a file so its completely smooth. If theres edge missing underfoot from previous damage, either pull it out or pound it the fuck in with a hammer and file the crap out of edge cracks till they're flush.
Paint the skis: Prime your sanded topsheets with some sort of acrylic primer, or other if it applies better to your chosen medium. Make your own theme. Sharpies, spraypaint, whatever, this is your shit. Make a Banksy themed lineup of skis if you like that, or Carebears, fuck, I dont know.
Mount the skis: Get your shop to drill the skis dead center (duh). Pop in quiver killers and keep some loctite in your ski bag for your bindings. Screw them into your ski of choice the night before you go up riding.
Booya. You now have a unique fleet of jib skis that you can run into the ground and replace cheaply whenever you lose so much edge that they're unrideable. Keep the beat ones on your wall as a testament to your badassness.
