I know we sometimes tell you guys that we're back in the "lab" working on stuff... and we absolutely love when we get to finally launch those things.
One contest that just Launched was the Salomon Jib Academy Online, which is a qualifying contest to head out to the finals in Mammoth.
In the past, these contests have been totally awesome, however we've received millions of complaints about the formats, judging... etc.
In actual fact, we've been working on the plans for a new contest system for the better part of a year, and we are finally taking the wraps off of it. This is a much more robust, and automated system that you guys are going to love, and the kind people at Salomon really helped us get off the ground.
This specific contest is going to be run in elimination format. So you have about 3 weeks to upload videos, and at the end of that three weeks you'll have a chance to vote on your favorites. Simple stuff.
However, after that week of voting, it will jump into a bracket-style elimination contest. The contest will run automatically, so it will be as fair as is possible. From the seeding round, the top 16 people will be bracketed up, and then eliminated week by week. You have 4 days every week to switch out your video, or it will automatically advance. We couldn't be more excited about seeing this format come to life, as we feel it is going to be the absolute most fair way to choose a winner possible.
The last two rounds will be voted by the Salomon team, so it will be almost impossible to cheat.
