Buying a new goggle

What goggle should I buy? (Véry original question I reckon)

There's a lot of cool brands out there I like:
POC
Anon
Spy
Smith
Scott
Von Zipper
Quicksilver

I reckon there's other brands that make cool goggles, you all probably know quite some, like I saw a really cool Giro goggle the other day.

And some brands I don't like because the quality of their goggles suck, like Oakley, Dragon and Electric, all companies that make really cool goggles, but the lenses scratch ridiculously easy, which ain't cool (and their goggles are way overpriced anyway).

Now, just name some cool goggles, models or brands, and then I'll narrow it down. Thanks.

The glass scratches insanely fast, especially the inside lens. With a friend of mine cleaned his Wisdom lens with fibrecloth and rubbing alcohol and he could throw away his lens, he ordered a new one, same story, lens was done for in 2 weeks.
Besides, Oakley is overpriced (in Europe anyway)

As for the other guy suggesting I/O's, not a big fan of those! But keep the suggestions coming.

On top of my list are the Von Zipper Dojo/Feenom, Spy Bias/Soldier, Smith Stance/Phenom, Scott Fix, Anon Hawkeye.

All really cool goggles imo, the thing is I'd like to try a goggle before buying one! I'll check out some local board-shops soon.

Na but seriously, this didn't have anything to do with lenspouches. This was the inner lens. Some snow or w/e had come onto the inside lens and there was dried up water mark thingies which is really annoying, so he tried cleaning it with fibrecloth and alcohol and it ruined his lens, and it happened again after he had ordered a new lens.
Same story with another friend, he had his crowbar for a week or so and his innerlens was also ruined at the end of the week. Not right if you ask me.

The Von Zipper Dojo's are my favourite goggle I think, they're so cool!

It has been proven again and again the Oakley has superior optics to all the others.. though I am considering selling my Splices just because I want something with a wider field of view

well when you get the gogs it says not to let the snow dry to dab it with the fibercloth. also i always turn my oakley bag inside out when i clean my gogs and sunglasses because dirt gets on the outside of the bag. something an oakley rep told me to do one day.

Sure enough, but stuff like that happens.
I have had used my adidas goggle for 150+ days and I don't have any of those issues and I can assure I'm not half as gentle with my goggle as he is.

Either way, I'm not a fan of Oakley and not gonna buy one. I made this thread to hear some suggestions, not to hear whether Oakley is the best brand or not.

Your not supposed to clean the inside lens with that cloth. Its his fault for messing up the goggle. Oakley's are awesome and worth the money imo. What i did is check out the b/s/t forum and wait till you find a sick pair for cheep.

check out the smith I/O's

sorry but i have to comment on the oakley thing cause they are actually the best goggles you can buy just because you dont know how to take care of them doesnt mean they suck its says right on the bag to only use the bag to clean them so breath on them and wipe up the snow it works like a charm. that all i have to say

Yeah, thing is I live in Europe so that sorta complicates things. Anyway, thanks for the advice, I'll keep an eye out.

ya well in that case i would go with spy or anon out of your list i think they are the best. i like POC helmets but i heard the gogs arent good quality as other brands.

What exactly do you want? I mean you have listed all the big goggle manufacturers and rejected some of the favourites electric, oakley and dragon....and now you want opinions....sounds like you have already made one.

crowbars, rogue, eg2, i/o  are all awsome goggles if they fit your face and helmet well.  Just find a good frame that fits you and get an appropriate lense...

well i have Spy Zed goggles and they are super nice. I belive they have some metal in the frame to keep them super sturdy and strong. They are crazy comfortable.

If i had the money though, despite all of the NS hype, i would get Smith I/O. They look so fresh and i have heard nothing but good things about them.

my friend has oakley crowbars and they always fog up.  i just got the electric eg2.5 (like them better than the eg2 cause they're not as big) and love them.  with the spherical lens you have much more perififerl (spell check my ass.  im trying to say vision out of the corner of your eye) than other goggles.  they also look sicker than anyother goggles imo

so apparently oakley is the best but nobody can give a good reason for them being the best other than they have the biggest corporate name?

I say the POC Lobe or Smith I/O. It kinda depends on what helmet you have, if you use a helmet that is...

wait, he had some residue on the inside of his lens so he cleaned it off with rubbing alcohol? really? in the instructions it clearly says never to wipe the inside of the lens when wet, (and its the same for all goggles) because it wipes away the anti fog, and he used rubbing alcohol? what did he think was gonna happen?


More to the point, there is a reason so many people (not just newschoolers) use crowbars, and that is because they are a very high quality goggle. to me many other goggles such as the I/O feel cheaply made, with foam that is not very dense and seems like it will rip off at any moment. but the crowbars feel solid, with good foam and very thick, strong construction, including the frame, strap and lense.

I have had crowbars and I/O's and the I/O's are about the same in terms of quality, they have a little different fit. I like the I/O's better because they fit my face better plus the lens are so easy to change

Depending on whether you have large face or if you just want great peripheral vision, get the electric EG2. That, or you can get the Oakley Splice or Crowbar.

Not getting an electric, the EG2 is one hell of a goggle, but it's a bit too much.

Any opinions on Von Zipper Dojo? I really, really dig that one.
