so anyone who asks questions about things they arent sure about is dumb?
I was just gonna mention this - up on Le Brevent, all the chairs are stacked at the lift station during the summer.
This is due to storms etc, reducing wind induced loading on the cables and pylon interfaces that are static. because they sit static all summer, the same parts of the cable are in constant contact with the tensions / rollers at the pylons, with the added weight of chairs and win, the dynamic, cyclic loading induced on these points repetitively can potentially create weaker spots on the cables.
These chairs were mostly modern quads and sixpacks, and they simply count them in and remove them / stack them, then come winter, unstack, mount and count them out.... inspecting the cable at the same time.
Some of these chairs in the alps are in much more exposed locations though, so whether they do it in America i guess depends on the location / risk to leaving the chair loaded.
