Anyone else stoked on the state of hip-hop right now?

Like teh realz hip hop though, for srs. Also searchbar was used, as far as I am aware there isn't a thread like this as of right now. If there is, I am sorry but the searchbar blows

Redman says he's got Muddy Waters 2 coming up soon.
Ghost said there are 2 possible LP's on the horizon, Supreme Clientele 2 and Blue & Cream, plus Apollo Kids came out in December.
Raekwon has Shaolin vs. Wu-Tang in March coming out.
Apathy is supposed to drop Honkey Kong in April (I believe).
Celph Titled dropped 1990-Now in 2010, that was a pretty sick album. Produced with a bunch of unreleased Buckwild beats from the 90's.
I believe there is going to be some sort of DJ Premier vs. Pete Rock album, that should be great.
Talib Kweli's Gutter Rainbow coming soon.
Hopefully Nas' Lost Tapes 2 is going to show up soon, and hopefully isn't a letdown when it does.
And this was on GZA's twitter (as gay as that sounds) "This project will have a visual and audio element. In a league of it's own. Taking it up a notch before we get Liquid Swords 2 in motion. NOT Liquid Swords 2. Not yet." So 2 possible albums from GZA, one of them being Liquid Swords 2.

Overall a big fuck yea from me, how about you NS? Any info you have on anything going on in the world of hip hop is much appreciated, you can never have too much music.

I know this has been stated many a time, but I just don't even classify that as hip hop, it's hip pop plain and simple. 2 completely different genres to me.

wiz was dope before his fame. i dont like black and yellow at all. but his material before he got known was dope. (Deal or No Deal, KushxOJ) it wasnt anything special, but he made good music at one point.

Gucci Mane is a Moron. I Don't think he's ever spoken even One intelligent line. Ever. Haven't heard of waka, but I'm assuming that's a good thing as well.

these guys are the new generation of hip hop. they got the lyrical flow and complexity of all the dudes the OP mentioned with a modern day style and original beat selection. that said im stoked all these hip hop stalwarts are still goin strong specially all the wu family

I could of written this exact thread myself. I am looking forward to every album OP listed. Nineteen Ninety Now was the best Hip Hop album from last year. And maybe Slaughterhouse. Looking forward to Redman and Apathy's albums.
Im showing my age here but I bought the first Muddy Waters on cassette tape the day it came out.

hip hop pretty much sucks right now. even rappers like wiz who were good a few years back are using autotune and its kind of annoying. and the radio is about 100000 times worse.

hip hop = more.... fun? upbeat? stuff

for the most part i hate rap because it's stupid as fuck
i like hip hop however because it puts me in a good mood and can be pretty funny

then there are what i refer to as 'club bangers'
basically songs that everyone poops over at parties or whatever
many are terrible, some are very enjoyable

and outright hating artists like lil wayne and wiz khalifa is stupid
sure some/a lot of stuff is bad depending on your preferences but some of it is good
lil wayne for example, i hated passionately. then i listened to a milli a few times and got carter III
i don't know how anyone can hate songs like comfortable and let the beat build

bring on the hate, but i'm really digging the new kanye album at the moment. is it hip hop/rap? who knows, but the production quality is through the roof, and the album, as a whole if you listen to it start to finish, is put together really well, in my opinion.

jay electronica needs to actually get an album out. or at least more material. i've seen him live twice, and in that time span, still have not been able to find any new music from him. exhibit c is such a ridiculously good track.

Rap = Making songs about money and women. Basically what happens nowadays.

Hip-Hop = The kind of shit that started in the mid-to-late 80's. Just making songs about whats on your mind, whats happening around you while a good DJ makes some beats. This is where you get the Big L's talking about their guns and how they could kill you or where you get the humorous MC's like Meth and Red, and anything in between. You have the great storytellers like Kool G, Nas, Ghost, Rae, and lots of others. You have guys like Celph who just spit punchline after punchline, the lyrical genius' like GZA, Rakim, Inspectah Deck. The whole hip-hop genre has a lot of different elements to it.
Rap is just who's hot one week, gone the next.






Just wondering, if you wanted to start to like Wayne, why exactly did you start with Carter III? I am personally not a fan, I haven't listened to any of his old stuff, but it's common knowledge that the underground shit he put out was MUCH better than what he comes out with now.

Wouldn't say I'm stoked on the state of hip hop right now, I'm so sick of all these 'frat boy' rappers and the overuse of cheap electronic style beats and the sampling super-well known indie rock songs.

Other than that I'm excited for some new albums and I liked a lot of music from 2010 but it wasn't terrible...curren$y's two albums, obviously kanye, cudi wasn't terrible, big boi, etc.

But yea expecting detox, meth & red, raekwon, the game, common, pilot talk 3, pusha t's album, j cole, lasers from lupe, supposedly lost tapes ii, carter 4, watch the throne, dj premier/pete rock, rolling papers (not really excited), also drakes putting out another but I'll prob like a song or two off it, talibs coming out with another one (gutter rainbows has been on repeat for a while now feeling it so hard), another deltron album supposedly hope it doesn't suck, jay electronica, also heard andre 3k but think thats like a joke/rumor

but damn yea thats some big names I'm puuuumped

I'm stoked on Shad. Thats pretty much it, but I've gotten out of hip-hop over the last year. Shad's album TSOL that came out in May was pretty friggen awesome. Shad is Canadian hip-hop and way better than DL Incognito who was mentioned earlier. Look him up for if you haven't heard of him.
