Casey will probably be mad at me for posting this, but I couldn't resist sharing my excitement...

but you'll get hit on by matt all night, and you must dress ugly so you don't take the spotlight off of my dress.
Why don't you take a seat....it's a long story.
I was into this band right after high school-- just a local band. I googled them and came across an interview article about them. I clicked on it and it took me to a website called ihurtnow.com. It appeared to be a website about music and various other thing and it had a forum. At the time it was 2001 and I had never posted in a forum. There was a thread on "favorite band" so I made a membership to the site and posted in it. I became a regular to the site, and had no idea at the time, that everyone in the forums knew eachother IRL but me. Apparently this website was made by a group of high school friends, and they were the only ones who used it, so I was an outsider without really any knowledge of it.
I noticed that almost every post by user SirCaseyofPeterson made me laugh, so I downloaded AOL instant messenger so that I could IM him. Man, I sound old. He was 16 and I was 18.
Fast forward almost two years (I'm 20, he's 18) of talking online just about daily and being livejournal friends and I invited him to meet me at a party that my coworkers were having.
We quickly became best friends. About 6 months later started dating. Then he went off to college, so we broke up. Then he moved back to we got together again. Then I went off to college so we broke up. Then he came to live with me in Bozeman for 6 months where we got back together. Moved home and broke up. Best friends for another two full years then got together again in February of 2008.
I said "I want you, all of you, all the time--and I don't want to break up, ever. Are you on-board?" He said he was. And happily ever after.
spark notes: met online 11 years ago. Met in person 9 years ago. Started dating for good 4.5 years ago.
The couple I live with did the coolest thing ever for their engagement ring.
While she was in Medical school down in St. Eustacius (sp?) in the Carribbean she found a blue bead while diving (beads of volcanic glass used to be a form of currency in the 1400s or so, and a blue one is extremely rare and valuable) and she gave it to him as a momento for while they were apart.
When he was going to propose, he mentioned wanting to incorporate some of the blue bead into the ring. I called my friend who's a jeweler and we went and saw him- he worked some magic and set the main diamond right in the middle of a harvested crossection of the blue bead once he settled on a setting. Totally unique, totally custom, totally related content. I think it's so incredibly rad even though it doesn't look anything like a regular engagement ring just because of the effort taken to make it a personal thing and not just a shiny bit to show off.
