Skis for a friend

So a friend of mine is in town, who is a major traveler and skis around 30 days each year, even though he lives in Florida. I had never skied with him before, but I took a look at his skis, old racer skis with core shots to the max, and convinced him he needs new skis.

So NS, what should I get him? His max is probably $300, but older and used skis are okay. He is an all mountain skier, but tends to stay away from the park. Suggestions?

if you want to keep the price down and he doesn't mind something used then ex demo skis would be a good idea. they have them at pretty much every resort

Well, yes, that was one of the means I was going to use to look for the skis. However, I was wondering more specifically what brand/model ski should I look into?

it really depends what they have. id love to say go and get some ar6s or k2 extremes because i have them both and love them, but if you can get a decent pair of armada arVs or salomon suspects (two pairs i wouldnt go and spend my own money on) for $200 then its a good deal

Gotcha, will do. Is $200 good for those? I got my Rossi S3's for $300 pre-season, so thats my scale of judgement haha

honestly couldn't tell you. a lot of the time they'll sell them for whatever they can get. they dont make any money from demo skis, they make all their money on the skis they sell normally. if their cost price on a pair of demo skis is $200 then they're probably happy to sell them for that if they have a bit of wear and tear. if theres a price tag for $300 offer them $250 and see what happens. im in australia where its not uncommon to pay 1000 for a new pair of skis so my judgement on US ski prices is sort of screwed.
