Should NS haveDelete/edit button for posts and threads?

Know how irritating it is when several people quote a deleted post in a thread? Now imagine if everybody was constantly deleting and changing their old posts. NSG would be unreadable.

The preview button is your friend.

think about this, you make a thread about your skis your selling. Someone buys it. the only thing you can do is say there are already sold in another post. By being able to delete, it would clear that shit up, i don't care if i  spell something wrong, im doing it for the good of NS, and it obviously works on other forums. i don't care if you tell me to fuck off, because you just look like a pussy who cus's kids out about a question. i searched i. didn't come up with anything. i really don't care if i post a question, and you say repost. i just want to fucking get the question answered. i DO NOT GIVE A FUCK

B/S/T is in it's own league and therefore needs some unique rules.

But only editing, if your sale is over, PM a Mod to delete your thread.

This is what should happen.

There should be a "Request to delete" button that is sent to the mods.

and as far as editing goes, You can add on to your post but not edit the entire thing.

that's not a bad idea actually if people are concerned with thread preservation. I think that any addition should spaced from the OP with the date it was added.

The mods would reinstate such a critical part of our cultural NS heritage.

I am for having a "request" to delete button in the BST forum BUT I fear that it would be a little abused and the mods wold get a million messages requesting to delete threads. I suppose there could be a way to make it work....(see below) but anyway, you could just PM a mod to have your thread deleted for now if it is really bothering you.

In order to integrate the "request to delete" option in BST it would probably have to avoid the use of sending actual messages to the mods. Instead, there could be a section of the mod forum where the requests pop up (perhaps in a thread) and they can go click the thread and decide whether to delete it. Or just simply delete it. As to the code that would be needed to make this work.... hmm.

At first I would've said that I needed an edit/delete because of other forums I had used. But this way, people that say stupid shit have to live with it. I learned the hard way doing just that
