Music remixing software

i have a mac and im looking to fool around with some songs for fun... any ideas?

I just got virtual dj home edition, and it's more dj software than remixing software because everything has to be done live, but there is a recording function. if you were looking for something more in the vein of music production then i'd look more towards ableton or fl studio or maybe logic. hope that helps, i'm no expert.

ableton live. its like garageband but more complex...pretty expensive but you can find torrents for it

ableton is one of the most versatile programs and allows for a lot of customization. Its geared towards live sets, but it is pretty good for composing and mixing. Its got endless options for midi controllers. It has quite a learning curve, but you will be having fun in a couple hours even just using your computer keyboard. There are tons of tutorials out there to help you get the hang of it too(youtube), just be prepared to invest a good amount of time if you want a decent product.

No free software is gonna be anything you want, so Id stay away from any of those. Someone already mentioned Ableton Live and yes that is a very good program for mixing/sampling etc. I would also look into Logic if you have a mac. Logic, imo, is the best program out there and it has so many features and options that Im sure you'll like it if you choose to go that route.

I would steer clear of Pro Tools, everyones gonna come into this thread and tell you Pro Tools is industry standard and thats what everyone uses. They are right, but that doesnt mean its the best program...

Summary - Ableton or Logic are your best bet.
