James Harrison is an unreal linebacker, who hits hard. Sometimes he leads with his head, sometimes he doesn't. Point is, he hits damn hard, and well. He's one of the most under-rated linebackers in the NFL behind London Fletcher.
He shouldn't. Watch it in slow mo. He was trying to get him with his shoulder which does hurt the other guy a little but wasn't leading with his head. Because Collie got mashed by the other guy he was pushed into the second defender and that's when their helmets connected.
Collie just got the ass end of the deal. Also, the way his head hit the turf probably did a lot more damage too.
the actual hit didn't look particularly malicious, but the eagles players were acting like a bunch of 10 year old while the dude was down. if i was their coach i'd fucking reem them out, that's straight embarrassing
They thought the play was still live so they grabbed the ball because it looked like a fumble and took off running. When they found out it was blown dead they didn't know why right away until they saw Collie laying on his back staring at the sky.
The only other thing I could think of is that I think with how the officials are cracking down some players will be playing possum/faking it to get flags called. It won't be like flopping in the NBA but still you might start having people over-react (Brady when his toe got touched by a Dlineman either last season or the season before) and how he was jumping around yelling "ROUGHING THE PASSER ROUGHING THE PASSER!"
I think people are more likely to become Muhammad Ali from these hits rather than paralyzed (yes, I know a Rugters player got paralyzed from a hit like this but these rules are to protect players from concussions)
Damn Collie played a little bit last night was makin some nice catches, but had to sit after gettin about halfway through the second quarter. I believe he only waited 2 weeks after his concussion to play again. It's such a tough situation because you want to play at that point, and feel like you can, but once you go 100% like that you realize you still just aren't yourself. Sucks I know how he feels, I hope he is gonn be alright. Has anyone heard any updates about him?
This is true, but the SI issue made it make more sense. All offensive players lower their heads taking the ball into contact, sometimes you just can't get lower than Darren Sproles..who's 5'6"
