Subject: Legit Hoodies

I have looked at all kinds of stuff (ect. Line, Orage, Saga, Oakley, more) but I am looking for a legit sweater that I could wear under my shell and still be warm. I leave in New England so i mean like WARM. I really don't know what "winterized" or "heavy weight cotton" is but I want a material that won't get soaked and weigh like 100 lbs. I am open to any suggestions not picky about colour but I am not going to pay like 100 bucks for a sweatshirt.

just picked up a xxxl lrg hoodie and its pretty damn warm. they make legit stuff and i got it for 30 bucks (usually 80) at burlington coat factory. i highly suggest them

okay thanks man I'll look into lrg. does anybody know if there is a large difference in armada fabrics for their fleece? the aquaphobic vs. tradtional?

You're wearing this under a shell? so you do or do not want it to have a hood. Check out people like Helly Hansen and outdoor research. Just cause they're not ski only brands doesn't mean they don't make good stuff. Columbia too, I have a columbia jacket that is two pieces; a shell and a fleece that go together.

yes I do want a hood though. and my shell did come with a liner but it's scratchy and annoying. and pink. haha so I am in the market for another. and yes I am looking for non-mainstearm companies too, as to why I made this thread...

do they have TJ Maxx where you are? if they do go in there and look around. you literally never know what you will find. i got a 135 dollar jacket for 20 bucks yesterday, super legit store.

DONT BUY COTTON. not only is it not very warm, but when cotton gets wet, it stays wet. invest in a fleece lined something, or even a thin down-coat for under your coat.

the new analog stuff is so good. softshell hoodies, regular hoodies, and alot more. super good fabrics and very warm.

If it's for layering, a hoodie will be absolute crap.

go for a base layer, fleece, and then your coat.

Armada makes some really good stuff if you want something thin. Might try looking into their hoodies..

you should look into the Burton Dry-Ride line. I picked up a nice thin tall moisture wicking hoodie for like 25 bucks on sale.

best deal is for sure the axis playa hoodie, i wore mine riding for two seasons and it still feels new. The cotton is super thick, especially compared to jiberish and they're relatively cheap

true, however, when cotton is wet it will still be warm unlike other fabrics
so it could be helpful

Go to TJ Maxx and look for a North Face/Columbia/something like that zip up base layer. It keeps you really warm and is extremely light weight

wet cotton does the opposite of keeping you warm when wet. it actually sucks the heat off your skin. wool, fleece, and synthetic cloth will still keep you warm when wet

Oh god, no. OP, you need a synthetic wicking fabric. Don't look at fashionable hoodies unless they have a substantial percentage of polyester. You might need to spend more than you're hoping to.

there are quality natural insulating garments, synthetic is just one option.

but the fleeces you're looking at are good choices.

bumping this real quick to see if anybody has any orage fleeces and their size how long they are in inches. because their sizing chart only has arm length and idk if they are similar

I'm not sure if they have any like it this year, but the Line Static hoodie was pretty damn warm, and the material was this waterproof stuff that looks like normal fabric, but its smooth and water just slides off it

dude if you want something warm and semi-technical that you can wear as a mid layer check the Salomon soft shell jackets. They wont make as much of a steeze statement as an LRG or w.e. but it will keep you warm and try, you can bet your biscuits on that.

yes. thank you everybody. i understand there are some good hoodies. but if you would keep reading the thread all i want to know is the lengths of the orage fleeces.
