Backyard Hockey Rinks

Does anyone of you NS'ers make Hockey Rinks in your backyard in the wintertime? I have been doing it for the past 4 years and it's great. If you do make one, when the time comes around to start making them, I'll bump this and we can add pics of what they look like. I just make mine out of about 2 foot tall wood planks and a tarp. Some people actually get nice boards but I don't wanna pay for that.
Mine last year was basically just like this except bigger and it was in my backyard, not a field:

my dad and his best friend who lived next door back in the day in michigan would flood their backyards to make a rink. moms didnt like it too much

haha the op's picture is from edmonton. A lot of people have backyard rinks here. They're not very hard to make, but when I had one of those little square ones in my backyard, doing anything on it was stupid, it was a lot better just to walk top the neighbourhood outdoor rink with boards. Darryl Katz, the owner of the Edmonton OIlers, recently took down his neighbour's multimillion dollar house to build a rink for his kids. See pic.

It's getting closer to that time....I just bought some new skates. The guy at the store said these aren't really like real hockey skates to play league games in, but theyre really good for outdoors. They have a lot of padding more than a normal pair and are a lot more comfortable.

No rink but I'm having a blast playing my first year of pond hockey. We've already broken one stick, lost about 5 pucks, shattered the bottom of the pvc net we have, and gotten countless bruised shins. God damn it's fun though, even more fun after a few beers :)

backyard rinks are alright, here there are a ridiculous amount of outdoor rinks that have lots people for games at all times, so its perfect.

we use to have one at my house, like from the time i was 6 till two or three winters back, we had 6 ish lights it was crazy fun, games till one in the morning

when I lived in Ottawa, ON I just packed down snow and sprayed on water never used tarps n shit, but now I have to skate on a pond :( not bad just far from my house

this was on Hockey Day in Canada a few years back

Growing up on a lake in Michigan, It was pretty common for people to plow/snowblow rinks. My dad always made a kick-ass one. We had a fucking ball playing hockey and riding snowmobiles on the lake. Had a couple sticks signed by some of the wings players. No idea why we got rid of them.
