LOL at the kid in my shop

so i went yesterday to my local shop, and i saw this kid who was about 12 or 13 and couldnt of weighted more than 110 pounds soaking wet. he was looking at fks 180's. it was so funny becuase he was trying to get his dad to buy them for him.
any funny stories from your shop??

if the kid is decent enough to warrant a pair of JJ's then i fail to see an issue with putting a burly binding on them. does anyone outside of racing or big mountain need a 15 din binding? rarely, they manufacture them because the springs are way more beastly and they last a shit ton longer.

I was in Porters last season and a guy walked in with rear-entry boots from the 80's or so. That's not the funny part yet.

Apparently, they were too big, and he was wondering if the shop had the right screwdriver to make it smaller so it would fit him. When they told him they couldn't do it, he asked if there were inserts. Legit question, but when they said that it really wouldn't be very effective to try making inserts as they would result in movement in the boot, he completely flipped out and got pissed that they were trying to screw him out of his money.

Somehow the sales guy (who really did know what was up very well) turned it around and the guy walked out of the store with new boots AND a pair of the last year's demo Volkl AC40s.

Miracle working salesman, and from what I know, he didn't even fib or exaggerate the tiniest bit.

I was chilling in m local shop with a kid i no who works tere and the like 60 yr old owner comes out of the tuning room on a razor scooter hits the tile flooring of the entrance and eats shit

Amen, I really don't understand the huge clothing trend. The only positive I can see is if these kids ever find their out of the park and into the woods, at least they can use their jacket as a bivy sack if they get lost.

I work In a shop and you couldnt believe the shit I hear.  Like i was explaining adaptive camber to somebody and he gos yea ik what that is you can change the camber of the ski on the fly. And im like no and explained what it really was.  Asian medical students are the fucking worst tho.  But their rich as hell

I was at my local shop about two weeks ago just looking through some of the new skis that had arrived. There's a kid beside me, probably around 12 or so and small for his age, he's ogling a pair of halos that were way too big for him. His friends points this fact out to which he replies "I'll just have them cut down". He then proceeds to trace a line with his finger marking where the new tip would be, about half way up between the center and the actual tip.

I looked over and offered the advice that I wouldn't recommend trying to cut down those skis. He later shifted his attention to a pair of afterbangs that were also a foot above his head.

I ended up buying the halos later that day. /claim

i was working at a shop and this guy walks in and asks for "trick skis"..so i take him over to the twin section of the shop and he says "arent those a little long for tricks,  I want the short ones so I can do tricks"...dumbass wanted ski blades lol...i had to smoke a bowl after that one

I worked in a rental shop for two months. That was more than enough for me.
Now I just buy most of my stuff online. Cheaper, less hassle, and don't have to deal with anyone. Gapers can be gapers, and tough guys can act like tough guys. I just enjoy the skiing.

the kids flowed by armada and gets new skis and bindings every year so longevity of equipment is not one of his concerns. burlier bindings are heavier bindings so if its not neccesary why add more weight to your skis? ive talked to the kid and he says he keeps his din around 10 so a binding with a 15 din max is overkill

Some Columbus Day Sale stories:

1) A man and woman come into our shop. They're complaining that they were fit for boots elsewhere and that they don't fit very well. My boss measures the lady's foot out to be a 25.5 womens and tells her to get her boots from her car. She comes in carrying a size 31 Dalbello Aerro 60 (a huge fucking bucket boot). It was funny.

2) A fat kid comes into our shop - we're talking like 'don't-make-fat-jokes-this-kid-has-issues' fat. Anyways, his mom wanted him to get boots for cheap. This kid Brendan, dumb as shit and fresh from the MasterFit clinic, proceeds to tell the mom and kid that there is no "cheap" way to put fatty into a boot and that he can't ski. They leave, and encounter one of our large employees (his name is Fluffy). The mom and kid are both crying their fucking eyes out in the car. Fluffy apologizes profusely, takes the kid back in, and puts him in a bucket boot. All he had to do was move the buckles.

My ski buddy that I work with was in our shop at the ski wall talking to a volunteer patroller at a very well known resort in tahoe, who lives in the same town where our shop is. The guy was asking about a hard charging pow ski that could carve fairly decently and handle varied condition snow. My buddy showed him the prophet 115's in a 186. The guys told him that us fucking flatlanders didn't know what we were talking about. My buddy said ur right i'm sorry and walked away fuming....i almost died laughing

Freeride 12's and Squires are two totally different binders.

Squires are strictly meant for a skier that weighs 150 lbs, or less.

Working in a ski shop, and a customer, I'm guessing around 16, is getting fit with some boots. He is a bit overweight, and really sweaty, and rockin out to some tunes on his iPod. In a store packed with people, he's fist-pumping away. His life is pretty bro.

*Not implying that I didn't momentarily join him for a few fist-pumps :)

Am i the only one that read this as some of the older guys are coming into the shop, looking for some more modern skis that will just work better, and thats okay. But it would be crazy if they came in looking for XL saga and jibberish?
