 I am ashamed to be an american. There are hundreds of things wrong with the USA but i will focus on just two. The first being the envioronment. Global warming is no joke so if you belive that its just am myth you are either misinformed or you are an idiotic biggit. As Americans we use 20,680,000 barrles of oil every day! That means the US emits 65142000 gallons of co2 emmision per day. What does this mean? It means don't be an asshole and ride your fucking bike to work instead of taking that huge gas gussling truck in your driveway and driving it 10 miles. Also YOU DON'T EFFING NEED A 15 FOOT LONG 3 TONNE TRUCK. The american dream is over. That is the plain and simple truth. We no longer live in a land of plenty were you can use as much oil electricity and water as your obesse cholestorol clogged heart desires. If global warming continues at the rate it is at skiing will be none existant in Colorado in 30 years. If it continues Florida will be submerged, the west will turn into a huge dessert. Oh yeah! and another thing if any of you live in Nevada or California THERE IS NOT ENOUGH FUCKING WATER FOR YOU TO HAVE AN 18 HOLE GOLF COURSE AND A HUGE GREEN LAWN. Get over it. We don't have enough room for curing AIDS or cancer because we are already over populated. It sucks but as a race we cannot afford anothe billion people on this planet raping the earth for their convience. So on the subject of Global warming i challenge you to have the balls to reduce your water and electricity use. Go to a Tea Party meeting and have the balls to tell all those people who think Global Warming is Al Gore's fantasy that they are blind to the truth and that their ideas are outdated and that they need to get their heads out of their asses and stop ruining my fucking powder days.

The second reason why i am ashamed to be an American is our corrupt, money obsessed society. Politicians are so open to bribes and lobbying. It makes me sick. Also how congress cannot pass a bill for the greater good to save their lives because OF THEIR MUTHER EFFING POLITICAL PARTY. We can't even pass a bill to provide first responders to 9/11 with health care because the president is a democrat? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? I think the only solution to fix our goverment is to wipe it clean and start over, and while your at it make it a requirment for congress that you cannot be an asshole. I guess i aim too high for the government because it is human nature to be greedy bastards. But i urge you to save the environment. What we are doing to the Earth is like selling a beautiful daughter into prostitution. I urge you to post something simular to the first paragraph anywhere were it will get read. Its just bullshit that people aren't trying to stop Global Warming. Please try to help so that you can teach your kids how to ski not just tell them about when it was still possible.

but tell me a different government type that is better for america than what we have now. communism? socialism? socialism may work in a country with 10 million (sweden, norway), not 300 million

and really the only way to save the environment is nuclear.

What we don't need is people who want either or, or people who would rather focus on gays marrying than creating a healthcare system that's a viable option for 300 million americans.

Unfortunately, as mountain runoff decreases due to the general upward trend of snow levels, hydroelectric power generation will likely decrease unless the scales of such projects are increased accordingly. That's not to mention the environmental impact of re-routing rivers, creating reservoirs and dams. Entire cities had to be moved for the creation of the Grand Coulee Dam. Habitats were destroyed.

Don't get me wrong; I agree that hydroelectric is one of the most viable options currently available. It is relatively inexpensive and efficient. There are several more options that would be similar. Some are scientifically proven, while others need some more research and development. Among them:

-Geothermal. The Earth's core is perhaps the most unlimited supply of energy as heat around that isn't the sun. Harness this energy efficiently and cheaply, and you've created a carbon-neutral energy economy. Iceland, for examply, uses geothermal extensively.

-Offshore Wind. Who cares if it's an eyesore? This is one case where the NIMBYers need to yield to the greater good. Offshore wind is more reliable and efficient than onshore, and could harness gigawatts of energy in the years to come.

-Solar on the Moon. Think about it; put some panels on the moon or into orbit. Microwave the resulting energy back to Earth. Complex and ridiculously expensive, but relatively efficient. Japan is launching a small-scale system of this general purpose within the next few years.

Not true. Socialism can be applied to the public or private sector. You can have privately owned businesses that contribute to publicly traded and funded programs, such as our healthcare system, now at least. Socialism can exist for services, while Capitalism can exist for goods.

Well yeah I mean England was kind of like that for a while and then so was France for a while and Switzerland. Those always kind of seemed like concessions to me though. And it failed everywhere but Switzerland pretty much.

I wouldn't really call that socialism though its more like capitalism with very heavy government influence.

There is a natural cycle the earth follows that cools and warms this is true, but that does not mean that man is not inducing global temperature change.

It's basic bio. Life follows two loops: reproduction and nutrient cycles (I'm going to call it the circle of life because I'm afraid nutrient may be too big of a word for you)

Specifically, the nutrient cycle operates on the notion that usable outputs are usable inputs for another processor. When there is an accumulation of outputs or the output is not usable IT IS POLLUTION.

Pollution is getting trapped in our atmosphere because of this accumulation thus the consequence is earth warming and cooling in some areas.

But anyway, threads like this are dumb

Scandinavia is running on this program, as is France, which has the best healthcare in the world. Canada has publicly funded healthcare, and the US's school systems, public lawyers, roads, and many other sectors are all government run, publicly funded programs. If the US gets it's budget right, we could definitely pull it off. That's what the Democrats are going for right now.

dont be fooled into thinking its just the US's problem. its the entire world that polluting. and if you have to find one country to bitch about, the US should not be on the top of your list. your just being that typical liberal im better than everyone, and i hate my country because other liberal douche bags tell me to, guy.
by polluting we are only making it worse for ourselves, our planet doesnt give a shit, we are taking shit out of it and putting it back in, when we are long gone we will have done less than a pin prick. all we are really doing is making it a dirty shitty place for us to live.
being a pissy little hippie about it wont change shit. we are only going to get worse. the only way to make a difference is to kill million's, even better a couple billion people. its the only way i can think of, either someone needs to bomb all the shitty countries and kill everyone, or we need a huge natural disaster to wipe out half of the worlds population. then maybe we could actually get better.

dude, im about to graduate from college and go to grad school. No. If you look at the left, they are always trying to tell people how to live and control people. Besides that, I have looked at the whole global warming/climate change thing, whatever term you decide to use this week, and the evidence has shown overwhelmingly that humans dont have much effect on the temperature of the earth, and we can't do anything to stop climate change. Money and resources would be better spent adapting to changes.

I am scared of whats happening. Its a bunch of people like you falling for this bullshit and supporting the left who try to pass shit bills like cap and trade.

Besides, other countries are much worse polluters than us anyways.

and highest taxes

but who fucking cares, its nice as shit to live there, that money doesn't dissappear like it does in the US, it actually goes towards something useful. id rather give my money to effective taxes and live in an educated society than have a big ass pointless house on .5 acres and tons of ridiculous material things.

It's absolutely laughable to think that the left is trying to give more freedom than the right. First off, those issues are at the bottom of the barrel for anything I care about (except for maybe abortion). We have an economy going down the shitter. And we have politicians in washington that are making it much worse, spending trillions of dollars that I and everyone else will eventually have to pay for.


The right does not fight for everyone to adhere to a christian code of conduct. You are just straight up making shit up. The religious republicans want kids to be able to pray in school and not have a wall between separation and state(which the constitution only has 3 limitations of the separation between church and state)

Btw, "no religion in schools" How the fuck is that freedom?
"Let the immigrants live as they see fit" Thats absolutely fine if they come here legally. If they enter this country illegally, they are criminals, and they are not citizens and the rights that we have do not apply to them because they are not citizens.

seriously. The left is about bigger government. More social programs, national healthcare, MUCH HIGHER taxes, even the nationalization of certain industries is what they want. With bigger government comes more taxes, more secturity and less freedom. Its incredibly laughable that you consider the left the great granters of freedom, when they are the ones trying to socialize healthcare and telling people what cars to drive. You either have no clue, or you're lying or you are stupid to believe conservative advocated less freedom, and that liberals are the ones trying to grant more of it.

Your party ideal is very different from your party's actions. You may not believe that the right is trying to enforce a christian code of conduct, but every time one of those congressman with an -R after their names votes for an  an anti-gay, anti-abortion, or anti-stem cell research bill, they are enforcing their religious code on the US. In fact, many republicans lament taking "God out of schools", which is what I meant by no religion in schools. It's better to have a neutral school system, than one with a religious charge that is in direct opposition with all other religions. The right also has stood in favor of bills like 1070, the patriot act, and are the chief proprietors of the 'no fly' lists.

Those socialized programs you talk about with such anger provides more help to more people, at a small cost to the American populace. Those SUPER HIGH TAXES? Around an extra ~$400 a year for middle - upper middle class Americans. Adjusted for income. What. A. Tragedy.

Thank you. The socialism needs to stop along with priding ourselves on being "diverse" by having a country with immigrants who can't speak a lick of English. I'm sick of the federal government running shit. Keep it local and give the power back to the states. Example: Arizona, the immigration law wasn't ridiculous and it was totally right, yet we get all these people bitching about how wrong it is. Sorry thy don't want people who don't belong here, it's such a crime for them to attempt to keep illegals out of here. Let Arizona do what it wants, it was constitutional.

orly? me too. but thats because ive lived in canada all my life. have a summer home in florida though. ok not really, it's a time-share, but it's still mine a couple weeks a year. good times. driving the interstates is pretty cake. canadian roads get butchered by harsh winters.
