so i just got some k2 domains and now im on to deciding on a binding. my local shop has the STH12 for 150 without tax so like 170-180? but anyways they do not carry griffons or any marker binding for that matter (fricken idiots) so they would have to order them.. im guessing that would be around if not over 229 (price online) so someone help me out im open to any thoughts, pros and cons and storys.
im 130lbs, ski k2 disorderlys and 5'7. i have marker griffons and i made the switch from Rossi Axials. They are much lighter then rossi axials and have a nice swing weight. they have been pretty durable for me so far, in my opinion the only durable salomon binding is the sth 16 but thats just my say
You give bad advice.
Bindings have absolutely 0 effect on swing weight.
Binding weight only matters while you are carrying your skis.
All Salomon bindings are durable.
Coming from my experience, as I have both griffons and sth 12's, go with the sth 12's. Best heel piece out there, its the same as the sth 16, 5 screws, metal instead of shitty plastic. The only thing I like about the griffons are the toe pieces. I also need to lower the din alot on my griff's cuz they are on lizzies, so popping out doesn't exactly come as it should becasue the ski is so soft so that may my leading source of dislike.
griffons would probably work for you, cause you're not that big of a dude. they have a ton of plastic on them. i have them, but only because i bought mine for $120.. if i had to pay full price, solomon would have been my choice
Other alternative would be the head mojo 12/ tyrolia peak 12. Pretty solid bindin, and was available cheaper than the sth12's last year. I use mojo 15 on all my skis, sick sick binder.
haha no, my laptop sucks and the keys between D and H so the 1st letter in *uck, and last in bindin* dont work, so either have to copy and paste or be a bit creative in my spellin! sucks!
i found it way easier to swing spins espcially 270 ons after i got griffons. It may have been all in my head and psychological but thats the way i found it.
But the performance on the binding itself (sth12) are fine i just didn't feel too good about the durability.
my first bindings were sth12s, they broke once i land switch. There are tons of mixed experience with each binding.
yeah i know where your coming from i think im probally just going to get the griffon for the whole swing weight thing but i dont think the black STH's that my shop has will go good with the domain
haha I feel the complete opposite. You described how my sth 12's are to your griffons and vice versa. I have never popped out of my griffons, which scares the crap out of me, I feel super glued to them and do not like it. It's all about preference.
^And to my little rant, sorry mang, got a little carried away.
There will be no noticeable difference really in swing weight. The biggest difference is whether or not your skis are symettrical, bindings will make little to no impact. The Griffons are lighter though I think.
