apparently the Mink kills even when not hungry. carcasses cashed in dens often remain uneaten.

that's wierd man. I always thought that humans were the only animals that killed for purposes other than food. Anyone know as to why the Mink kills for other reasons than to eat?

cats often kill for pleasure and also as gifts for there owners. killer whales kill seals and play a fucked up version of football with them. Killing for killings sake is not something that is totatly unheard of. But your right is it interesting as to why it happens.
It might be there version of fun????

yea, i forgot about cats... my cat kills mice, birds, and rabbits all the time... but it's a bit different, because he kills them at night than brings them to the door so it's there in the morning. kind of like it is earning it's keep and has to bring a sacrifice to get back in the house and eat it's cat food.

but it's domesticated... so it doesn't really count.


as for killer whales and lions - they kill and play, but do they just leave the dead carcass and have nothing eat it? 'cause the mink brings it in it's den so that no other animal can get to it...
