Touring with rockered skis

I was wondering if there is a major disadvantage to skinning with rockered skis. I figured they might not be able to climb as well but if anyone has any input share your wisdom

super rockered skis such as hellbents, caylors, pontoons, ect, yes, there is a major disadvantage due to the lack of contact area with the snow. But there are alot of people who tour on skis with a little bit of tip rocker without and issue

alright thanks. i was considering getting some live lifes or new lifes and throwing dukes or something similar on it but maybe ill have to rethink this.

gotomas, on3p viciks, dps lotus 105s, ect all would be a great choice for a touring ski

I agree, touring with early rise/ small tip rocker really isn't a disadvantage.

I'll just add to mrstskier's list: liberty helix and 4frnt vct turbo, and BD justice. I buddy of mine tours on BD megawatts without much trouble, it has a big tip rocker, but a small tail rocker....

there really isnt too much difficulty, it actually helps with breaking trail. if it presented a disadvantage, K2 wouldnt have put rocker on the entire BackSide series., same with BD, or Viole. Even Surface's 3 Stage rocker works fine from what Ive heard

Fatypus D-Sender would also be a good touring ski.

megawatts dont really have any tip rocker, more drastic early rise

As long as the snow is soft, there is no problems, as someone else said above it's easier to break trail. But on really firm stuff the shorter contactlength really makes a difference. But on the other hand I would'nt go touring just to ski hardpack either...

Probably had ca 14 full touringdays 09/10 season with Moment NT's and trekkers
