Every week there is a new trailer for some epic looking amateur movie coming from overseas. It seems to me like there is much more talent over there than here in North America.

North america gives a stupid amount of money to athletes too just in other sports.

Baseball players are on average the highest payed athletes.

Tiger Woods was destined to be the very first billion dollar athlete in the world.

Also I think that North american basketball players make much more than scandinavian.

I think that because the skiers have so much money it gives them more oppurtunity thus making them better and more talented.

I think the euro sponsorship money is more spread out, and there is more money in it. America's is concentrated in the big three; football basketball and baseball. Europe does give plenty to basketball, just not as much.

but thats besides to point.

skiing is alot bigger then snowboarding ower here these days so we dont "loose" alot of the talent ower to that side. especialy in sweden and norway where its been a real boom the last couple of years and have expanded to pretty much in to mainstream proportions even outside of the usual snowsport "areas"

I don't think so, just because the big names over here are hooked up dosen't mean everybody get super deals. It seems to be a common mistake that we're super into freeskiing in europe and swim in cash, but in reality I think we get the same deals as you guys, most money are in alpine racing.

That's what I was thinking. Only the huge names are making lots of money and that is the same in North America.

I don't think that the paycheck has anything to do with skill.

I'm Norwegian and I have to say yeah we're more talented and we get more money.. but thats pretty much because we got viking blood and norway is the best country to fucken live in (thats not a joke, believe its a UN list or something) also I've only met like 11 gapers in my life because we're just such a superior nation (all of em were immigrants) Chaos Happy Pro SE. Eh... I'm from Norway and have NEVER seen a Basketball match on TV, it's not even on.. And my Father makes the same as an average soccer player who is the biggest sport over here.. soo.. No..

But the sport is much more popular here, in the slopes you just see some racers or gapers.. And i feel that there way more gapers in North America cause you guys always complains about that..

Anyway i dont understand what you guys are talking about all of norways sports money go to sports we arent even good at like scoocer. or racing and nordic. jibbing is in media mostly two times i a year. and your parks seem som much meaner than ours. norway got money, norwegan jibbers got talent not a fuck of money.

na for real, i guess most of the scandinavians start to ski early and they work hard and they commit. They got talent for sure and the thing with the filmcrews is right as well. They have fun filming what they do and the result is just awesome.

When i see a scandi edit/trailer i get so stoked. I really want to go out and ski. Because they show how much fun it is to ski with a group of friends.
It's not about acting thug or anything. They show how much fun our sport ist and thats sick!

disregard that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Norway is the richest country in the world in comparison to our population of 4 mill... though theres not a single super rich dude.. (there is like 5 of thsoe that I can mention, but they do business in the US so it doesn't count) but there isn't any poor people, except for homeless drugaddicts that doesn't have a job and therefore no income.. and some immigrants thats just plain useless, but no matter what kind of job you have you'll be getting enough money to actually enjoy your life.. NS should consider making a town in norway and make the sickest parks ever :D

Norway is also in the top 5 of the world's most expensive countries and even though your GDP per capita is high, the cost of living over there kind of sucks the "extra penny" you make from salaries and benefits so it's balanced out.

My stepsister used to work as a doctor in Oslo, made a lot of cash but the cost of living was so high she had to quit to sustain the lifestyle of her family. Now she makes a bit less money in Helsinki but has more to spare after all deductions.

On the other hand, I hate these kinds of comparisons, because it always leads to bullshit talk about which country has better skiers, more talent, better filmers, better opportunities, more money in the industry etc. Then it's just haterade all around in the end. I'm sure there are good skiers in every place where one enjoys skiing.

i guess the thread creator just wanted to tell everybody how amazed he is by the edits and trailers that drop from scandinavia lately.

Hahaha! Best post ever! But it's true. Almost every kid who skis the park in Norway can atleast do a 540. And Ive never seen a true norwegian gaper, but the biggest mountains here is flooded by people from Denmark. And 99,9% of Danish skiers are gapers

wtf are you talking about? atleast in norway (and proly sweden and finland also) there's no money in freeskiing. my guess is the only norwegians that can live of it is hatveit and PK.
