Atomic ffg 16 vs jesters.

This is my dilemma i have a pair of jesters that i am thinking about mounting on my caylors.
Jesters have always treated me well for the past 2 years. But know i am hearing a lot about how they suck durability wise and i am going to be using my caylors for a few years so i want the bindings to last. My friend is willing to trade his atomic ffg 16's for my jesters plus $30. Should i do this? are atomic ffg's better than jesters?

Atomic FFG 16 is the same binding as Solly STH16 (and Scott 16), I like it a lot, the only binding I ride.

But if you don't have any troubles with Jesters, why change?

Good bindings IMO
STH16
FKS/P 15/18
Mojo/Peak/Deadbolt 15/18
Jesters

In that order I prefer them, but I would go for either one

If you didn't know ffg 16 is a rebadged STH 16.

The FFG will be more durable as it has more metal in it. Also take into consideration that the jester din starts at 6, and the FFG at 9, so if you don't ride above a 9 din, it's an easy choice.

It's up to you really. I think the FFG 16 is a far superior binding (both in durability, and mechanically), but some people prefer the jester. I hear about far more issues with jesters than I do with FFG 16/STH 16's.

Acutually ffgs go from 6 to 16 and yes i did know that they were rebranded sth 16's just that they have a din from 6 instead of 9.

I'm pretty sure it's from 9-16...
Just checked a pair of my own and it is 9-16

I'd go with the FFG, the Jesters have a thin mounting pattern which tends to lead to pull out issues, also, the heel piece can come off the track easier, while these things don't happen all the time, it does suck when it happens, and it's been known to happen less with the STH/FFG 16s....if only they would make s916s again...

They must be old leftovers, I'm like 95% sure Salomon doesn't make them anymore....to bad I don't like in Norway, I'd for sure be grabbing a pair.

Yes, could be, but salomon racers still use 920? If so, they must still be made? Anyways, you can order 916/920 from skistore.se, pics shows STH16's though, but it is 916/920

Check salomon.com they do but i am guessing they are only for racers.

Also could someone confirm that they are from 6-16 or 9-16.

only issue is, salmon pulled out its racing department from the US, which was fucking gay

sth16s/ffg16/916s have a din range from 9-16 if thats what your trying to ask, i have 3 pairs so i can tell you just by looking at them.

and yes, do the trade, sth16s are better in every way compared to jesters

oh and as far as 916s/920s coming back, from what ive been told, 920s are for sure coming back, but in only in regions that still have a salomon race deviation(not north america)

Ok thanks are sth 14 drivers any good tho? cause i ride a din of 9 and dont really like being on the bottom of a binding.

STH14 driver is good binding. The biggest difference from STH16 is that the "tower" from the bottomplate up to housing is made out of plastic insted of metal as in the 16

I have STH 14 Drivers on my Phil Laroses, which is my Urban/Backyard/Beater ski. I love 'em, nice and light and I feel very stable on them.

yep, same binding as the 16s just with a softer spring. but make sure you get drivers, not the normal 14s, the Z toe is garbage

916/920s never stopped existing. distribution in NA was just non-existant.

If you need a 16 din + binding, there are only two bindings worth looking at:

916/920s and p18s. everything else is certified completelyfuckingworthlessbullshitcrap

just making sure, does the fks 180 fall in to the same catagory as the p18? just making sure...

and really quick on the topic of bindings. i wanted to get a pair of pivots/ fks 12's for my blue steeles/ bent chetlers.. should i look for the pivot or the fks more? or is there not really a difference? (what i hear is there are the exact same binding, just re marked.)

and i only need a 12 din because im only 125 pounds...

im gonna agree with everyone else and say sth16s. i hate my jesters, springs are soooooo fucking soft, at nearly maxed out, they're testing between a 9.5 and a 11. after two seasons of use, a binding should never be that beat.

According to Salomon's dealer catalog (this could change by the Fall based on a multitude of circumstances) but the 9/20 is back in the USA with a 90/100mm brake and will sell for $399.99

Also available will be STH 12, 14, 16 all with DRIVER toes

920's are coming back, untracked.com has them.

to the OP, go for the ffg, the sth heel is the best heel out there imo.

DRIVER or STH toes?  If it's actually the DRIVER toe, that's sick.  If it's just the STH toe, I still have plenty of 916s sitting in my closet.

Yup there offering both I think based on what I remember from the catalogue.

12s and 14s with Z toes and 12/14/16 with driver toes.

Gonna be pretty sweet

STH 14/16 toes were slightly different than s916 toes.  s916 toes were all metal and had dual-wing adjustment.  STH toes have a bit of plastic and only single wing adjustment.

Z toes are completely different.

Ok. 

Let me re-phrase my previous comment.  If they sell the new bindings with the old-style dual wing toe, that's awesome.  If not, I still have a pile of 916s in my closet.
