My Tonsils

sooo one of my tonsils is fine, but the other one is pretty damn inflamed, has been for a few days and it hurts like a bitch whenever i swallow, which turns out to be something i need to do a lot. now, i'm no doctor, but i know ns is, so is there something that this could be that isn't tonsillitis? i was hoping i'd get to work this summer so i can eat next year, so i'm really looking for an explanation that wouldn't require the long process of the removal of parts of my body.

any ideas?

its strep throught. you need extra strenghth advil and pennicillan

i'm laughing at some of these posts but I'm goign to help you out man becuase I believe I've had tonsil issues the most out of a lot of people.

Ever since I could remember (up until 8th grade in 2003 when I had them removed) I would get Tonsilitis at least 4-6 times a month. This lasted for almost 4-5 years, so from about 4th grade until they were finally removed. Out of those 5 years, I had Strep Throat about 7 times, like once every 9 months. The best remedies for healing the inflammation and pain when swallowing is to salt water gargle throughout the day. HOT water and like a spoonful of salt and gargle (NS you can have fun with that gargling sentence). that will slowly help but dont expect it to get better just after 1-2 days. It takes time sense the throat is connected to the nose/ear. So make sure you blow your nose and drink a lot of water/orange juice + sprite to help sooth and get that vit. C.

if that doesnt help, get the throat numbing spray, it works wonders. Don't eat chips or anything sharp but that's common sense. Plan B - go see a doctor and get some antibiotics if you KNOW its getting worse or just staying the same and it has been at least 5 days. But definitely gargle up some salt

Happened to me a couple months ago, I thought I had Tonsillitis, but it turns out I had some throat "sickness". Whether it was Strep, or something else I don't know.

i had this, worst week of my life id say couldnt eat or do anything, but i believe its tonsilitis, just go to your local physician(sp?) and just say you need anti-biotics, they helped me, also if you gargle hydrogen peroxide (just a little splash) in a dixie cup of listerine the pain and swelling goes down a little. trust me
