How many of you have jobs?

i searchbarred for this, and nothing came up, so i figured i would share my thoughts with the NS community. when i was 14 years old i got my first job at a fruit stand at the end of my road. i would work spring summer fall and they closed for the winter, letting me ski my lil heart away until spring again. i did this for 3 years, then worked as a lifeguard then park crew.

what i am getting at here is that i have had a job ever since i was old enough to work. now, looking back at all the high school and even college kids, many of them have never had a job. when i began tp drive, i had buy my own car, buy my own car insurance when i turned 18, and pay for gas.i have to buy all my ski gear, buy my pass, etc etc. however, as i look back, i just see parents forking over checks for this and credit cards for that. i am in no way jealous or angry, because the kids are the ones at a loss here seeing as they have no idea how to manage or earn money. but im just wondering, how many of you kids have a job, or dont, and how old are you?

i work at the keg steakhouse. im a bus boy, started off with 10 and hour and just got a raise to 12.and its not $4 a night its $4 an hour.  waiters get minimum wage but they get like $80-$100 of tips a night.

i work at a mini golf place, and have 4 accounts of cutting grass at 20 bucks a lawn, lawns are cut everyweek.

i just got my 1st job at DQ in the grill, its not bad and kinda fun. i make minimum wage (8.25 in CT) and i just turned 16 in april .

I have no job. Ive applied at three places within walking distance and they all turned me down. So im thinking of doing some hard ass gardening work or volunteering to get work experience. Im 15 by the way

forgot. i used to have a paper route delivering 500 papers. (from about 12 - 14)

that didnt pay SHIT. my brother and i would have to hand stuff 500 papers with all the ads. it was crazy.

i 14 i work with my dad he owns an accounting firm 9.50/hour and can go work whenever and for as long as i want its pretty dope.

18 and do 50 hours a week in butt fuck no where building a fishing lodge. stay in a log cabin all week right on the ocean, come down for the weekend, hopefullly theyll be work for me till december and november

17, work at a country club in restarant. make 8 an hour and no one tips because shit is so expensive already. i work like 25 hours a week.

im 20 and have worked the same summer job for 3 years, pro irrigation installer 16$/hr 40+ hr/week. i like it, i can smoke weed as much as i want and im pretty much the boss

ive worked since I was 15.
I worked at a concession stand for a year.
then I worked at a movie theatre.
and now for the last 4 years Ive been a cabinemakers apprentice at a woodshop.
Im also a ski coach.

Thank you Dhane. I believe you just pointed out America's largest problem- not knowing how to manage money. Back when I was five years old, my parents set up a savings account for me. I am lucky to grow up in a family where my parents have stressed money management. Sure, it's annoying when I can't buy something even though I have the money, but a month later when I forget about it, I'm glad that I didn't buy it. People don't want to save their money. When they have money, they look for ways to spend it. It's a sad world, my friend. A very sad world we're growing up in.

started working a week after I turned 14. Washing dishes at a pizza place.
Then a restaurante/marina.
Then a grocery store.
Then mail at a Medical School
And the grocery store for this summmer.
I've always had a job.

As for vehicle. I bought it when I got my permit with money I had saved, but I needed to take a small loan still. Pay for my gas, but as for insurance my parents made a deal that they would take care of it until I got in an accident.

I've been working for my parents since i was 12 (building and painting kilometers of fences, I'm still at it actually) and in the summer have been working five eight hour days a week, my parents stopped paying for my ski stuff when I was 13

-19 (well, in like 2 weeks)
-Work at a farm stand for my old boss who I worked for at a shitty grocer store.
-$8.05 an hour (minimum wage in VT)
-No car, I'm using my moms while I am here in VT until my mom gets up here for the summer in a week.
-I pay for gas.
-I don't have a car so no paying for insurance.
-I pay for everything I need/want.

15, real estate agent assistant. 8.50 an hour plus 3,000 dollars for every 60,000 dollars i help bring in per quarter. I also do little odd jobs for him. OH and every B i get is $50 and every A is 100. Love my boss.

Didn't get a job till 16 but only because no one would hire me for anything till I had a car, nobody walks in LA. I work for a company called Mad Science that does summer camps, after school work shops, birthday parties, and assemblies. We make science fun and shit, for kids preschool to 6th grade. I'm basically Bill Nye the Science Guy. I get paid $30 for hour long classes, or $15/hour for 6 hour summer camps. But I just got that job last month, I was a pizza boy for 3 years but the shop went out of business. Really sad, my very good buddy owned it and every single person that worked there was a good friend from highschool. We all blazed fat constantly in the back and were just high as fuck literally all day making pizzas and taking deliveries and fucking around. We made incredible pizza though I really loved that job. I've also done construction/french polishing, ran the kitchen at a pub for a while, taught in India, and done other delivery/driving gigs.

First job when i was like 15 inspecting dorms on a college campus. I'm 18 now and i have two jobs. Grounds work at a golf course 2 days a week and computers department at best buy.

17, no official job. i babysit frequently and do odd jobs, work summer camps and whatnot. im kinda lucky though cause my parents dont want me getting a real job haha

Hmm I'm 15 and just scored my first job this summer working at a Chinese restaurant my friend's parents own... Starting as soon as I'm done exams - super stoked to be able to make money to pay for my ski gear next season!

My regular job of film editor makes me about 60k, + freelance editing @ $40/hr gets me about 2k extra a month, well maybe every other month. I also do some private investigation, surveillance and process serving. That stuff is way more fun than cutting clips. I'm 26, and hate starring at a computer screen unless NS is up.

i startde working when i was 15, as a caddy, when i was 17 i got a job at a ski shop in my town where i still currently work all year around now. I caddied for what would be my 6th summer this summer, as of right now, i work at a grill called muscle maker grill doing deliveries, and still working at the ski shop during the summer, and i will more than likely caddy again too, but i have 2 steady jobs right now, i am 20, and a full time student.

when i was 14, i got a job as a race timer at my local ski club, the interview was 30 seconds, i went to grab the wireless timer for one of the coaches and the lady that worked there, was like "umm, hi, do you know what that is?"
"yeah."
"who told u to get it?"
"Tess."
"do you know how to use it?"
"yes."
"Do you want a job?"
"Yes."

and bam winter job at 14. paying for photo gear and ski gear. i have to buy most of it. the pass i get through the job :D. and i shoot artwork for a local art gallery, so they can put it on their website.

so many ppl i kno just rely on their parents, i feel bad.

I'm 19.
I've paid for my car, every single car bill, insurance, gas, anything I want to buy.
I work 40+hours a week at A&W.
10 bones an hour.
I've done two jobs last summer. took up my summer. big paycheques. 14+hour days. and plenty of partying.
I've bought all the stuff I own.
Thing is, I don't have to save for college. I have a trust fund with 27 000 dollars put away for 4 years of school(2 and 2).
It upsets my friend though, who's coming to school with me, he has to pay for half of his chef schooling.

im 15, ive had a paper route since i was 11. it blows but i still have it for some reason... though i hooked a easy job at the factory where my uncle works that i start this week. my understanding of it is that i peel tape off of scrap pieces of countertop material and i am allowed to listen to my ipod.. oh and minimum wage (7.25 in ny)

I'm almost 22 and right now I don't have a job, and I'm completely fine with it.  I'll have plenty of time to work and make money in the future, but right now I'm focusing on grad school and getting in to medical school.  When I was younger I used to work for a vending company selling stuff at sporting events, concerts, etc.  I'd make like $200 a night and work once or twice a week.  Awesome job.

I'm 16 and work 40+ hours per week over the summer lifeguarding and "in-water guarding" (basically WSI). $9.00/hr regular/ $13.50/hr overtime.

22, I have a real job now that I'm out of college. I've had a job since I could mow a lawn and then I started life guarding once I was 17... Ever since then I have paid for all my own ski gear, passes and trips all over the west coast and rockies... It's a good lesson to manage your own money.

Holy fuck. Where the hell are you making 60 dollars an hour teaching little kids to "dance"?  Are you sure it's not late night dancing with a brass pole in your routine?

As for me, I work in a hospital sterilizing surgical instruments, 40 hr/week during summer and 20 during school.  I'm 19 and in college, but i do both

Last summer (15) I worked for one of my dads friends who runs a landscaping company. $10/hour and worked 4 days/week.

This summer (16) I am a caddy a the local gold club. All you get payed is tips, and the usual tip is about $80.00. A round of golf takes about 4 hours. So 80 dollars for four hours of carrying some rich guys golf bag in my opinion is pretty good. $20.00/hour.

work for my dad as a graphic designer and anything he needs

i also make xbox 360 and ps3 controllers (paint them and mod them) i make good money from that
i work about 3-4 times a week from 5am -4pm at my dads shop, try to learn his business and i try to do random shit to make money
i can defiantly say i am spoiled, considering my parents are probably gonna give me the family SUV er something which it super fine wit me
