I'm just assuming that at that depth he was at, the gravity increases and the pressure just builds to pull you down.

Ah I see, I was assuming it was that 83 meter world record free dive that was posted a couple days ago. But now I see, the silver block on his waist is actually a belt with a weight attached. When diving, you normally put on so much weight as to counteract the air in your body and make you neither sink or float. But I guess he just has a lot of weight on.

That was dope. That was a pretty fast descent. You'd have to do a lot of ear equalizing. You'd also have to keep getting air from your buddy with the scuba gear. But it still looks fun.

i'm not a free diver but a scuba diver. he's rockin' a 4-6 lb weight on his back. that's about half of what i wear with a 3 mm suit and full scuba gear, so that should sink him like a rock.

his ears are probably loose enough by now to equalize on their own. speaking from personal experience, when i first started diving i had to equalize violently (plug and blow), but hundreds of dives later they just do it on their own.

and finally, i don't think he's getting air from scuba gear while he's down there. he appears to be holding his breath the entire time. if he were to inhale air at the depth of that hole, he'd have to continuously exhale as he ascended as the gases expand as you head to the surface...ie you'd have to let them out or you'll pop. he's not doing that.

Small scale freediver here. Seen the video before, that guy is pretty much a freaking fish.

I freedive mostly for spearing fish though, theres nothing really that interesting to explore in our lakes besides old car wrecks and bridges.

small scale as well, deepest i've been while freediving was in nemo33, the world's deepest indoor pool, its 33m deep (108ft)...

and for those wondering how he stays down: your buoyancy in the water is dependant on the volume of displaced water, at great depts the pressure rises and the neoprene suits of a diver get compressed (together with slight compression of the chest cavity, )resulting in a net. volume loss while the weight of the diver (including ballast) is unchanged..

so the deeper you dive, the less buoyant you get due to decreasing net. volume...

Yea he has a weight belt. But actualy I do a little bit of free diving in the summer when I go spearfishing, it's so much fun. I like it because you are alot more free than you are in a scooba suit. If you do it far a wile you can stay under for pretty long. it probably takesyears of practice to get to that guys level though.
