look at it from the officials point of veiw, he clearly wasnt on the goal line, when the ball hit the cross bar it bounced in, however when the ball bounced after, it bounced backward and hit the cross bar again, if you werent on the goal line or directly next to the net there is no way you would have noticed that went in if you were on the feild

Well the refs need to fucking practice those situations and not be so fucking unprepared and not know a fucking horseshit. Seriously, he's a FIFA REF. He should be qualified for these situations and not make such a dumb fucking call.

I think, if England loses, the cries for replay will be too loud for FIFA to ignore. With this call, the USA phantom foul, and the Henry handball in qualifying, there are many cases for a replay system.

Out of all of those though, I think only the England truly warrants implementation of replay. On the other two, it is the ref's call. Replay would be nice for Ireland, the US, and other countries that have been screwed by calls or no-calls, but I think FIFA should step in and say referees can review instances like the England one.

im just gonna say that its not his responsibility to be on the goal line, hes supposed to stand in line with the farthest back german player to be able to determine weather any english player is offside therefor giving him a poor view of weather it was a goal or not, i agree it should have been a goal, however the ref was doing his job and its a judgement call on his behalf, he said no goal, deal with it there is nothin you can do. england will come out fireing on all cylanders and im guessing they will score within the first 15 min of the second half.

Fifa should add goal line refs to avoid this situation in the future or use video replay.

If they overturn the goal though, then the goal before could have been considered offsides, and then everything needs to be overturned and etc

I take that back, just saw the replay, schweinsteiger was far enough back but not in the one replay shot, but from a different angle he was, so it wasn't offsides nevermind haha

if they dont want to mess with the game too much at the very least have a camera on the goal line that someone can watch and radio down to the main official instantly to confirm whether the ball went in or not regardless of offsides and handballs
or have extra officials watching the goal line

If FIFA really wants Americans to watch soccer they need to

1) have replay for non judgement calls (that england non goal is such bs)

2) STOP THE DAMN CLOCK. Keep better track of time so a) players know how much time is left b) if you fake an injury it doesn't actually waste time.

3) make the refs explain any calls and make them accountable

the refs have way too much responsibility and control over the game. if that happened in any other sport in america there would be riots, but in soccer the fans don't really have anything to compare it to (IMO).

of course they're way too "traditional" to change and probably don't even want Americans to like soccer because everybody would rather just hate on us instead.

germany just has a fierce counter attack. it's unbelievable how fast they regain possession and push forward. The english just don't drop back in time.

complain all you want about that disallowed english goal, but germany has ripped them apart.

you guys don't understand the influence scoring has on players. If that goal would've been counted, the stoke level of the english players could've gone through the roof, thus pushing them to possibly score, and win the game. So I think that whole game was completely fucking bogus.

Fuck me George, we had a shocking game.

Our defence was a joke. Fucking John Terry in THEIR box and the ball gets turned over for Germanys fourth goal.

Capello putting Heskey on when we needed a goal wtf??????

We soooooo deserve to be out of it.

We MIGHT have a chance for Euro 12 (if we shape ourselves), but beyond that we'll be out of serious contention for a fair few years, cause theres no youth coming through the ranks.

Oh and Gary Linekar just read the FIFA statment on goal technology 'it would be too costly to implement'.........this coming from FIFA.

Theres no way this should/will be introduced. Take todays match for instance, when should the replay be? You've got between now and next Saturday to organise a game, rest your players, and hope none of them get injured in the replay match.

Goal line technology (like hawkeye) should be used. Its used in Cricket, Rugby, Tennis, Horse Racing etc etc. A fourth official sitting infront of the screen, quickly radios the referee, SIMPLE.

FIFA has to instate goal-line technology, all you need is 2 cameras in each goal, would cost them hardly any money.

Shoudla been 2-2 at the half and the game would have been so different, never woulda pushed 8 men forward on the freekicks which led to goal 3 and 4.

And get a fucking goalie England, goals 1,2,3 should all have been saved.

and all the goals were preventable.

And it was great to see USA get fucked off by the tiny African nation of Ghana for the second consecutive World Cup. This time around they didn't even have their best player.

No surprise about the England vs. Germany match. Rooney never got going and Germany is always a winning machine.

Oh and on a general rant, the refereeing in this World Cup has been unbelivable. The amount of wrong red/yellow cards, super close offside rulings, and disallowed goals (im thinking of the USA goal, where he couldn't even come up with a reason for disallowing it).

Which game were you watching? Germany should've been more than 2-1 when that goal was disallowed. It was only cause of James that they weren't.

You could only half blame him for that nutmeg into goal, other than that the defence shouldn't have even let the ball near him.

England had a goal, but to give the referee a break, at full speed in the heat of the moment, it looked like it never crossed. It's easy to sit there screaming when you see it at a perfect angle in slow motion, but at full speed, from the angles the officials were at (which were the correct locations too), it was a VERY difficult call I'm sure.

To argue against the replay debate, I am against the replay, unless it was INSTANTANEOUS and did not alter the flow of the game in any way. If they were to blow the play to go to review, and say it had NOT been a goal, Germany would have been denied a counter-strike opportunity. It's an elemental part of the game. You play until the whistle blows. Sometimes you get a call in your favor, sometimes it goes against your luck.

English fans will argue that the goal would have changed the game, but from my point of view, Germany would have prevailed. The entire game, Germany was putting on a clinic of how to counterattack and pass.

If Germany keeps playing as they did today, they can count themselves in the final.

Today, I'd say they played a HELL of a lot better than they did in their showings with USA, Algeria and Slovenia. they were downright pitiful in those matches.

Its funny how some countries play like the stereotypes they are given.

Germany is drilled, precise, machine-like.
Brazil, relaxed and open.
France can be lazy and disinterested (sometimes).
The English play very bull-headed and physical, and the Italians play with alot of emotion.

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I certainly see similarities.
