I have my spanish final tomorrow and preterite vs imperfect is a big part of it.
Does anyone have a good way to decide/memorize when to use which tense?

mientras is a pretty good indicator of the imperfect, its used to denote simultaneous actions, where as the preterite tense is one action after, or an interupted action. as for memorization, thats all on you. make flash cards

why is that?
My teacher always tries to come up with all these little sayings and phrases and stuff, but i can't remember any of them for preterite vs imperfect, and i was wondering if anyone on here had any good little hints or ways to memorize it.
