It's weird, though, how if you go to nikefootball.com you get a site with american football, which is a very small site, and a site with football, which is a site that covers over 25 countries and a ton of other teams.

could not have said it any better myself.  I live in america and still call it football.  why should we be different from all the other countries and call the same sport a different name?  if anything american football should change its name because its the one that sucks, not the rest of the world football.

the reality of the matter is that if you live in the US then you play soccer; AYSO, high school, college, and pros all play the sport termed soccer. why you gotta hate?

I played football for the better part of my young life and found it to be sooooo much more fun than soccer, in terms of organized sports. But playing soccer with some friends is possible pretty much anywhere.

When you're scrolling through the channels, and it says "Sunday Night Football" do you say 'oh, I wonder if Inter Milan is playing Bayern Munchen". No, you don't, because in North America it is referred to as football, and european football is referred to as soccer. In Europe, this would be a different story..but in North America, Canada and America specifically, football is football and EU football is soccer.

American "foot"ball= a sport at which using the hands is correct and only one designated player can actually hit the ball with his/her foot.

Real "foot"ball= a sport at which using your hands is incorrect unless you are designated to take a throw in or are the rightful keeper. Using your feet on the other hand, is what your supposed to do.



Maybe us Americans are just to dumb to admit we can't name a sport correctly.

 I call it soccer and football interchangeably... Usually i call it football, because i'm watching it on TV and the announcers are from britain, so thats what they call it...
